I could never fall asleep to that, but holy hell is that just an awesome record.

This Saturday night June 4 Robert Rich will be broadcasting a live radio concert lasting 8 hrs. You can record it over net radio if you like.
(Get info here - http://www.kvraudio.com/forum/viewtopic ... obert+rich

You also might like the Max Richter 8hr recording called "Sleep".

8 hrs is a long stretch of music. Hard to sum it up into a description.
I did hear that he is surely using electronics with recorded environments.
Give it a try. Do you have a net radio that can record? If not, I use a free one called Radio Sure. www.radiosure.com

Here is Rich in my home town;

Good luck.

Where is the concert? Robert is a vague acquaintance of mine, and lives nearby. Is this at Foothill College, or is he out on tour at the moment?

As for actually falling asleep, I recommend the "Sleep With Me" podcast. I can almost never even make it through the first 20 minute intro before he actually gets into the real show.

Here's a link for Sleep With Me. I like this because his talking distracts you just enough that it prevents your mind from wandering to other thoughts, but it is boring enough that you don't really want to pay attention either.

I made a white noise cd years ago, when I lived in the city it was used every night but now that I'm in the sticks I dont use it...it was amazing though when I needed it.

Dark Side of the Moon is a good album to put me to sleep even with the alarm clocks
The highest form of knowledge is empathy, for it requires us to suspend our egos and live in another's world. It requires profound, purpose‐larger‐than‐the‐self kind of understanding.

I know this sounds crazy, and it's not music, but playing Tetris is supposed to help with insomnia.
Even if the piano player can't play, keep the party going.

I discovered that listening to an audio book in bed will send me off to sleep if I'm in the least bit tired. That wasn't quite my intention but never mind. Probably works because it holds my attention sufficiently so my mind isn't wandering, but the steady voice lulls me to sleep.

I edited the narration into 30 mins chunks so that if I drop off it terminates at the close of that chunk and doesn't wake me up again.

(BTW If you go to youtube and search audiobook you'll find plenty for free)
