I hope so, I'm stuffed if it doesn't.Doc Brown wrote:Can the samples be stored on a separate drive other than C: drive like Kontakt?
Saying that, I fully expect it to. I've always run Sampletank 2 / sonic synth / Miroslav etc from a separate drive, so can't see any reason why they would change that logic now.

I should have explained myself better...just meant that IK, like all other companies, has their own approach to marketing and that IK has its own style, which may appeal to some and not to others. I was thinking of the Saturation X's ad campaign is similar to Syntronik's and didn't go into other products with different approaches.Peter - IK Multimedia wrote:JJ_Jettflow wrote: IK's marketing is the same for much of their releases. A tease, then more info and a preorder offer.
As for that first line, I recall we've changed it up a few times (though I'm lumping in all types of releases we do since we do interfaces, controllers, microphones, speakers, stands, accessories, and apps in addition to software
Regardless, it is the product that ultimately does the selling in the end...the marketing is just to get your attention and should not be taken so seriously.

I don't see why there would be any issue - not with copy protection or the like, at least. You may experience longer load times due to the transfer rate of the flash drive you are using but you can specify an external location with our sample-based products because of the sheer size of them. Thankfully!ftech wrote:Just a couple of questions for Peter...
Do you know how the download will be available (individual instruments, multiple parts to one file, continuata-type manager)?
I don't have 50gb free on my SSD so, until I purchase a new one, will Syntronik run okay from a flash drive?
I have a 128gb stick that I run some small Kontakt files from, so thought I might run Syntronik from that in the meantime....as long as it doesn't interfere with any copy protection or cause issues moving from one drive to another.
Thanks.

Yes, sorry that I didn't roll this into the answer above (I'm not always into the "roll your own multiquote" if the forum software doesn't have it baked in).Doc Brown wrote:Can the samples be stored on a separate drive other than C: drive like Kontakt?

I saved the best for last (for tonight at least, bear with me I'm a little loopy as I've been up since about 3:30AM so I could travel to our wonderful new U.S. office):wagtunes wrote:I just went to Youtube and listened to the 3 DNA synth videos covering the 17 instruments.
Question: Are all the sounds we're hearing coming from the original synths or are they coming from Syntronik?
The reason I'm asking is because, honestly, I can't tell the difference. Now I guess this should be the case since Syntronik is actual samples. The sound should be identical.
However, the bigger reason I'm asking is this.
Forget sound design. Not everything has to be about sound design. When I pull up Chris Hein's Violin and Cello, I don't design sounds. I play an instrument that, to me, is as close to the real thing as I've ever heard. I don't care that I can't make the violin sound like a wailing banshee.
With 17 accurate sounding synths, even if they are limited as to the variety of different sounds you can out of them depending on the included samples, with the ability to layer 4 of these synths at the same time, you can still come up with interesting combinations.
Granted, I can do this now in my DAW by simply loading 4 different synths and arming each track when I play the keyboard, something which I think I'm going to start doing, but I don't have all these emulations. And a few I do have, quite honestly (I'm looking at you Arturia) don't really sound like the originals.
I'm starting to look at Syntronik in a whole new way. I mean it's not like I've never bought basically static sound generation tools before. Not everything I have has the ability to create every sound in existence. I think this is a nice way of adding some color to one's existing sound pallet without necessarily being redundant. Especially since nobody has come out with an A6. At least nobody that I know of.
I'm not saying I'm definitely getting it but at $69, it's tempting.
The only real downside for me is the 50 gig size. I hate downloading stuff that big. While I bought Omnisphere in the box, I had to download Omnisphere 2 from the site. It was not fun. That might actually be the one thing that holds me back and not the limited functionality.
Yes, I can definitely see a market for this, especially if what I heard was actually from Syntronik and not from the original synths.
So if somebody can confirm that, it will help in helping me make a decision.

There are no sounds from the hardware instruments in these videos. All the music was done by a talented IK team member using Syntronik.

Okay, so everything I'm hearing is from Syntronik. Good to know.
I wish money wasn't so tight right now. There was a time that $69 was a drop in the bucket. But since learning that my wife is running a 5K a year deficit, not so much. Long story. Don't ask.
In the meantime, I only have synths lined up for upcoming libraries through August. After that, nothing. Whatever new that's come out, I've gotten or ruled out for various reasons, not the least of which is small GUIs.
If Syntronik was a sound designers dream, I'd gladly pay 4 times the amount as at least I could use it in my business. In fact, I think you'd have tons of sound designers jumping on this.
Anyway, I'm still on the fence. If I come into some unexpected income, probably. But money being an issue right now makes this a luxury that I really can't afford.
Sometimes life sucks. LOL.
Anyway, thanks for getting back to me on this. I wish you nothing but the best of success with this one, not that I think you're going to have any problems at all as there are a lot of folks out there who don't want to do anything more than pull up a synth and make music with it.

if you have previously bought products from IK, then you qualify for a pre order crossgrade price of $99. Then on top of that if you have jam points saved from previous purchases, you can use up to 30% of the price with the jam points, this brings the price down to $69 for people that have purchased enough stuff from IK in the past. Not everyone is in that position, but at least if you buy it, in the future you will be like us!

i wish they sold preorder through resellers. for me it would've been cheaper to get it without VAT than with jampoints. IK, Y U NO SELL THROUGH JRRSHOP?!
I don't know what to write here that won't be censored, as I can only speak in profanity.
