Opinions about Archetype ?

Hi,

I am thinking since a while about the archetype bundle, acutally about 82 pounds on kontakthub.

From my background:

Contra:
- I am absolutely not into that hardware/analog kind of stuff and I have more then enough kontakt libraries flooding the ram of my projects
- I am not really into drum-machines
- my music "style" (as just a hobby-musician) mostly interested in flying round some great soundscapes, ambient kind of stuff with some traditional rock elements and acustic/ethnic instruments
- the prize if you see it as ONE product is not cheap (so it has been much higher)

Pros:
- I like the demosounds, the real cool surfaces and the easy and descriptive modulation they seem to offer (I just like a visual feedback for what I am doing)
- I really like the idea of having it as complete (and only !) composition tool with the similiar integrated sequencers with root note and scale: is that realistic ? Anyone has used it this way ?
- the prize if you see it as EIGHT products is kind of cheap (and has been much higher)
- there seem to be a lot of thinking investigated in the concept of this thing
- around 800 presets for the 8 Instruments seems to offer lot of starting points

So would be really glad about any opinions/experience

I find the Archetype instruments very playable and they are very well-put-together Kontakt instruments. Having said that, they are designed for dance styles and if you're not into old analogue synths (and a Virusalike) and drum machines, I'm not sure what there is for you.

There's nothing to stop anyone doing soundscapes in Archetype but I'm sure there are plenty of other instruments with sequencers at KontaktHub that will suit soundscape creation much more. I find these instruments much better suited to riff creation and playing from a master keyboard.

was an important hint for me cause I really into composing with sequencer/piano roll then keyboard.

But It is very CPU intensive, I run with an i5 processor, 8GB RAM, SSD disk, 64 bit Kontakt and FL Studio 12. Still, when I try to play chords in Sickness, or morphing presets can bring the CPU hit up to 70% and beyond

Think thats it for me, I have nearly identical system and this is really a no-go, kontakt library with such a CPU-hunger, would only make sense for me if I can make all 8 run together but that seems to be impossible with my system

I brought the Max.for Live version for 75 bucks. It's Ok, I guess. Like the other folks were saying, it sounds good but it is MURDER on my CPU. Sickness runs 45-65 percent and it crackles. I have some other VSTs that are CPU hungry (Diva, Xils Synth'x) but, none of those ever get much beyond 25percent per instance, and often run much lower. If you have a fast computer, and a lot of RAM (the 8GB I have really isn't enough), then you will probably like it. It is a good sounding set of instruments
