I've always kind of ignored the free version of DM-307 (like everyone else, I have drum hits coming out of my ears) but, Ableton is having a sale. So, I check out the free version, and DAMN...I had a really good, different sounding groove in about a minute and a half. The samples, and their racks are pretty top notch, and they definitely don't strike me as "one more 808/909 collection", or an I wrong? The only part of the collection I might not be too crazy about would be the Latin Percussion library (I don't make Latin beats) but, that may have a few gems too. I (attempt to) do IDM/Glitch a la Arovane, Apparat, Proem, Ochre, etc, so I'm always jacking with drum sounds...either beefing them up, or destroying them some way, or another. Does anybody still use the DM-307 collection anymore? I know the Ableton version is different from the Kontakt version too...Like, it may be a smaller library, and uses Drum Racks, as opposed to the Heavyocity interface and sequencer. It's running for $112 on Ableton's website until tomorrow. Someone needs to talk me into (or out of) buying it. Thanks!
