Was reading this "listicle" about the gear used on OK Computer. Has anyone mentioned the ShredMaster as a possible emulation? I don't have any strong opinion on the matter, as I'm not a guitar player. Just curious about it, seeing as it was used in a few iconic tracks.

Hi Mel, sorry for not getting back to you earlier. If you haven't already can you please email support@cytomic.com as I prioritise email support. In your email can you please let me know which version of which web browser you are using? Also was the error reported by the web page or by the plugin? Can you also please include the full error code, I usually have a number like this: "error: file not found 3", where the 3 is the error code that lets me track where exactly in the code the error is being generated.

Also it is probably worth giving things another try with both the same and a different web browser, it may just have been some intermittent issue connection or update type issue. I just double checked the offline authorisation system with both the latest versions of Chrome and Edge in Windows 10 64-bit and all is working well, so fingers crossed it was just a random glitch.

What a great little plugin. Doing great things for my drums and synths so far.

Hm, I just downloaded and installed v1.0.6, but the plugin still says it's v1.0.5.
Anything wrong here?

Yep, I can confirm that here as well. I forgot to increment the version number inside the build itself, but it is the updated version. I'll upload a new build with the correct version soon.

All fixed :tu:

Yes, it's showing the correction version number now. What are the differences between 1.0.5 and 1.0.6?
Are you still planning to release the final version soon, and including a Boss SD-1 preset?

Yes, I've just done an update for all our plugins and fixing a few bugs with those then it's back to adding the final touches to The Scream. I can post a Boss SD-1 preset this week, but I've not tracked down an original unit to test against, will that matter to you?

Hey, getting an SD-1 preset for free is really a great bonus feature and I sure as hell will not complain because you couldn't directly compare it to the real unit. Thanks for the extra work you put in this!
Were there many parameters that needed to be changed to match the SD-1 schematic?

Just got this.
Very cool.

One question: what info does that percentage read out (which changes all the time) in the top right hand corner of the GUI show ??

cpu usage.

Thanks.
I guessed it might be that, but as it is quite high at times (for one little plugin) I was hoping it wasn't :)
cheers

I haven't owned an actual tube screamer in years but I did own one for years. There is a definite difference between greenscreamer and TSC in terms of "how does it feel and sound like a TS-808", regardless of how well these extreme tests match user perception.

I'll have to demo this next to TSC (which I much prefer over greenscreamer) to see if the buffer models match any perception of differences for me.

it is possible to optimize the CPU usage as the glue?

Yes, I could lower the cpu considerably by removing most of the modelling - this is exactly what everyone else does that makes Tube Screamer emulations!

I would have to remove the variable bias and voltage, remove the battery modelling, cheat on the buffer modelling, remove the op-amp input stage modelling (so no slew rate limiting), remove the op-amp voltage rail clipping, remove the non-linear capacitor modelling in the main clipping diodes and also remove a few other things - all this would lower the CPU considerably. You would basically have something like the TSC in which, as far as I can tell, the only non-linear part modelled is the two main clipping diodes. Would this sort of thing be of interest? I could still allow customisation of the main clipping diodes, but changing them would require re-computation of a table so there would be a small delay between changing the diode model and you hearing the result - so this would still be more functionality than all other Tube Screamer models on the market. I was thinking of adding an HD button, which when disabled gives drops the detail of the model to save CPU - this is what I do in The Drop. How does that sound?
