And mediocre? Can't be more mediocre than young people today...
I think the difference with youngsters today is the ability to make music without being a musician. Back when I was a lad the only way to make music was to learn to play an instrument. So there is an inherent difference in the approach to making music. Anyone and their dog can do it.
Sorry, ot.

Hah, I did the same. I am subscribed to the Serum plan as well with no regrets so far (although of course if these companies keep offering rent to own plans it's gonna start to add up really quickly).

I applied the key with no problem and Sylenth is registered in my name. Still not sure what the subscription detection process is. It looks like I'm using a normal license as far as I can tell.

Just gave a spin for Sylenth first time in loooooooooooooooong long time. Instant uplift trance with THAT sound that you can hear quite alot :D

Thank you Lennard so much for this <3

Finally got around to trying Sylenth1 and — holy heck does it sound fantastic! I think it's tone is (still) better than the other top shelf synths in its general class like Hive and Serum. Plus it maps all my MIDI controls form my old Roland XP (including program change and filter/envelope controllers), which is awesome. (Wish it's patches made better use of aftertouch, though — U-he is great about that.)

Is there anything out there that has the richness of Sylenth's tone? (Unfortunately my Dune2 demo expired and now it won't even open, so I can't compare.)

Post

Just buy Sylenth1 with this new payment plan for 10 euro a month and enjoy making music. If You like it that much, why running around and trying to find something comparable?

Sylenth1 has a quality sound engine, enough said. How old is it? 10 years??.. I bought it when it came out. New developers should consider the quality of this product before they even start anything new.

Quality sound counts no more mp3 like sound engines thanks.

In having read the first page of this thread,I am very confounded by some of the lackluster reviews Sylenth1 has received(stating that the filters are poor,or the sound is just ok??)Really? For someone to be displeased with Sylenth1,just because it's not the "Swiss army knife" of synths,or because it does not sound like Hive or Dune 2,is absolutely absurd.
Sylenth1 is an analog synth, pure and simple. In fact,I've never heard a better recreation of vintage analog in a soft-synth and very few,are as impeccably authentic as Sylenth1.
One other soft-synth that has this level of quality that leaps to mind,is VirtualOberheim.Aside from Sylenth's amazing analog sound, the other features of it,are exceptional as well...such as a resizeable GUI and 7 different skins!
I also love how everything is accessible from a single screen and of course, the CPU efficiency is impressive as well.I've had my eye on several different synths lately & have purchased many and I have postponed the purchase of Sylenth1 for a long while(due to budgetary concerns)...but now with the $10 per month plan, there was no reason for me to delay any longer,so I pulled the trigger yesterday, with no regrets whatsoever.
Other synths like Hive,Icarus and Dune 2 are must haves and they obviously offer a sonic pallet that Sylenth doesn't,but that is no reason to denigrate or dismiss Sylenth,as $159 is a fair price to pay,for 100% analog quality.

1. Either you fell out of a tree or you have broken ears or broken speakers. But most realistic scenario you have never heard analog synth.
2. Sylenth1 sounds anything but analog. Its a rather good VA in category like Roland JP80X0.

Been thinking about because of R2O thing, but no, it's not adding anything new or anything at all sincerely, guess I'm not target market for it.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

Frankly, if it wouldn't be "the shit" for Trance specific sounds, i wouldn't have bought it either, even for the low used price i got it for. Spire covers the same ground, and i actually feels it's pretty similar for the type of sounds Sylenth1 is so famous for. While actually being much better at some things, and covering a lot more ground. I think people should not hunt after illusions. Sylenth1 is a pretty limited synth, which, these days, also lives largely from its reputation. And costs a lot for what it has to offer. Don't want to talk it down, as i really like it, but, i would have never bought it for the full price.

What synths like Spire, or also Sylenth1 do exceptionally well though, compared to most VST synths, is that they have a very punchy, "in your face" sound, and can get very aggressive, while many VST synth are either more on the bland, or soft side. Sylenth1 can get pretty wild, and aggressive, if that's your type of thing.

It's obviously the best synth ever created. Either hardware or software. If you disagree, you are a Sylenth1ophobe and should probably not be taken seriously.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

Actually,I grew up in the era of hardware analog synths.

No way. Sylenth1 is the best vintage analog emulation. It's also the best granular synth ever made.

I don't have Sylenth. Don't want it either. :ud:
