Heck, there was an early Devo song with it. And Mr. Bungle had a track with it done by Mike Patton that sounded really good.

Which Devo song is that? I don't think I ever noticed...

There's video and audio of the Balinese monkey dance in the movie "Baraka", which is an all around outstanding movie.
Anti-aliasing is for "synthmonk%ys".

And on to this month... thanks to wilkoryte and DrApostropheX! (Wow, not only a #2 vote but it's directly above four of my idols here at KvR! :-o Surely that's a mistake... I should be at #6 and everyone else bumped up accordingly... :P )
Yagushi I really like your track a lot, I wanted to give it a better score but did not like the huge volume .
I made a playlist with my top ten, there is a high volume difference between your track and the others.
this is just my opinion :)

Yes! Great segment in a great film.

You™: I want to say Smart Patrol/Mr. DNA, but I'll have to check to be sure.

I apologize for not doing reviews for everyone this month... however here's my reviews of my top ten.

Heartbeat - Barnadine
I love this, a beautifull simple guitar tune/ and great haunting vocals. And those little noises in the background just add to the song so much.

Donkey Jazz - Dave Spiers
This is great. Not only is it funny! it's also a really good tune, well constructed, well played and perfectly mixed. And a great use of a donkey's mutterings and burps!

12 Foot Lizards - Donkey Tugger
A great tune. Great build up, great picatto(?) strings... Sometimes I feel it's a bit cluttered, maybe moving some of the instruments to the back would have helped... Your acoustic guitar is sounding very good now though, Your recording it a lot better than when you first bought it..

Crossing Borders - Haghi
I like this. It reminds me of 90s indie tune. A Charlatans song or something. It's well constructed... and the bit in the middle is great, very Radiohead... I think maybe there needs to be more dynamics... more of a build up to the center section, and better spacing of instruments. But a great tune.

From far East - Ixox
This is a cool tune. Very well executed. make me think of the soundtrack to a quirky european cartoon or something. I love the low-fi feel about it... just adds to the atmosphere.

Don't let the Sleek Month Win - Markleford
This is so "They Might be Giants". Funny lyrics, and a good tune... Great brass too.

Candy Bullet - pHz
Great drums, great guitar solo thingy, and great use of vocal samples (though I did find the Speak and Spell effect a bit too grating). But great stuff, nice and funky.

Ghost Story - Sdunn1110
This is a fun tune. Though I found all the screams a bit too much at points. But I love the Keyboard bit in this. Very fun, nice little tune. And that ghost Theremon type thing is superb!..

El Futuro de la Humanidad - Spyro / ET
Amazing stuff. Remind me slightly of the Costa's albums and maybe Sinequanon by Hybrid. ET has a great voice and this song sets it off so well. I wish it was longer... You two should definetely write more songs together!

kvr Blue - Wilkoryte
A great little number. Well played blues and beautiful sounding guitars. Maybe not the most adventerous song, but who cares when it's sounding this good. :)

Nuisances Sonores - Um... [JohnCage]Well... it is sound...[/JohnCage] at 1:20 it gets some what more interesting, but on the whole it's too much randomness for me
Yes, it's sound ! at least it's not too spastic randomness, I spared you that !
Mystahr
Nuissance Sonores - Our monthly noise treatment I should put them all together for better enjoyment
Er ... ouch ! :hihi:

- Nuisances Sonores -
Oh yes, I've expected some weirdness. Fat sounds for sure. Love some of them. Can't say much else, maybe I'm indeed too oldfashioned. Just tell me, is there a metrum or so anywhere?
Thanks for making a review without having entered.

A metrum ? hmmm ... I tried to follow with the left hand a sine LFO that was rate modulated with the right hand, on the first part : cautious modwheel / aftertouch and such tweaks.
Beardedone
Nuissance-SonaresGlassback franchement les glitchs comme ca peu donnent l'epilepsy
Tu as écouté mon morceau avant de faire ta review ?
sdunn1110
Nuisance Sonores - Glass Tank
Fascinating sounds - sounds like a demo of what can be achieved from some synth, but is this music? Not to my taste, despite the obvious technical competence on display
Thanks for the words, I'am unfortunately too often more in love of sounds than music !
nikp2000

Nuisances nice sound collage. Interesting mix of timbre
Thanks !!

Great month, inspiring, giving ideas ! 8)

The System ERA, Garret, nikp2000, Beardedone, andrew simon, fst, knockman, Mystahr, and Baggio

And a great big thank you to my #1 voters:
ixox, astanine, and pheeleep (you guys rock!)

It's encouraging to see that people here can appreciate this type of music. Sometimes I feel that I'm the only person on Earth under 30 that loves Bossa.

You're kidding, right? Bossa nova is the best.. I just wish I had some latin blood and could pull it off! I have to say your track is transformed by that samba whistle and the percussion break... where did you get that wonderful whistle sample? :hihi:

You both are kidding right! Oh wait, I'm over 30...

But liked everything about Freeztar's song (a lot) except the whistle. It sounded too much like one of the sounds on my PSR-520.

Post

Thanks for the words utm! :D PSR-520????

I had a heck of a time getting a good whistle sample because most are too short and I wanted something longer to lead into the samba part. Garret was kind enough to donate the one I used. I think I might just break down and get an apito(samba whistle). I think some people didn't get the whole whistle thing, but that's how changes are announced in samba batterias.

garret: I bet you could pull off some bossa! The feeling is tricky to get the hang of, but hey, Stan Getz did and I don't think he had a drop of Brazilian blood in him.

Count me in as another lover of Bossa, and most forms of Latin music. I am over 30, but oh well! :) I get calls to play this kind of thing from time to time as well.

I did a Tango/Guitar instrumental shred tune several years back when I just started with the whole home recording thing. It was partially inspired by my Ski trip to Las Lenas in Argentina and the fact that I dated an Argentine woman for a few years back in the days before Mrs.Guitarjeff. :D
