Anything I ever bought from cakewalk.
I came to cakewalk as an RGC Audio customer (bought everything René made). Back in the day some of the first vsti synths you could get to sound really good.
Then cakewalk hired him and bought his products... messed some up, discontinued the rest.

I recon I'm lucky that despite owning a bunch of licenses they don't offer upgrades to any of them except maybe Sonar... which I'm not after.

Their support is pretty fast and helpful. Their product roadmap as far as vstis are concerned has gone off the rails.

Anyone know if René is still working there?

He left Cakewalk years ago. You can find him on LinkedIn ;)

Devine Machines Krishna, Synplant and probably Massive. Maybe even vanguard though it was a help in the beginning.

Aalto.

It really could be a fantastic synth, but it seems to have a mind of it's own and plays continuously no matter what I do to try to tame it. In all fairness, I never gave it time to grow on me because of the unpredictability of it and the fact that I couldn't get it to calm down enough to use in a track. All of this is user error I'm sure, not any fault of Aalto itself.

I regret buying most Waves or NI products, as it it quite a IQ challenge getting it to work (especially using FL Studio).

But so far I have managed to solve all the riddles, so I am good 8)

:hihi:
I assume you're referring to copy protection hurdles?
I haven't had any trouble in FL 12 myself so I'll consider myself lucky.

IL Slicex. Wait! I'm aware of this is no synth. But it WAS a nice effect plugin back-in-the-days. Since it has been redesigned (vectorial GUI and so on) it fails every time to function properly. Dismissed! Sorry, IL

Hate to niggle, but you were correct the first time. A loop slicer qualifies as a synth and loads as an instrument (at least in FL... :hihi: )

That sucks about it not working since the update, I love Slicex and think it's the best loop slicer & rearranger out there.

No regrets for buying any synth this year :D There were regrets selling synths, but I have re bought all of them, so you won't find me in the sell & buy forum this year, I hope ;)

However, regrets for buying effects and instruments? Sure! I tend to use the hosts effects as I found them really good enough for me (Cubase or S1). So, my regrets is about mainly Waves effects and Piano Vsti that I'm not using at all and their value is going down all the time (in addition to the update shit reminders and the headache of the protection).
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

Symptohm - I got caught up in a group buy fever about 10 years ago- never used it.

TimewARP - I bought it just before getting into modulars and then it became abandonware

The Korg digital legacy - I wanted the wavestation but the GUI is awful and I could never get it to save programmes properly.

Xphraze - never really used it and then changed computers.

..luckily most of those were early purchases - my current track record is alot better.

Padshop Pro - Just never got around to using it, really

VirtualCZ - The desire to keep it faithful to the original hardware is annoying, as many improvements can be made in software.

Synthmaster - Buggy as hell

Virta - This is mostly my fault. Due to the awesomeness of Kaivo and Aalto I bought it without demoing. I mainly bought it for vocoding duties. Unfortunately, it sounds like sh** compared to the offerings of Razor/Lector/Orange Vocoder. Oh well. It was only $89.

Reaktor 5 - I bought it last year or so in anticipation of buying a crossgrade to Komplete 11 Ultimate, before NI decided to remove it's eligibility to upgrade. I would purchase Kontakt now, but I suspect NI will do the same thing with Kontakt for Komplete 12.

Hmm..What you did not like?

After the initial gimmick it became boring. No further development and the renitent reselling policy gave me the rest.
