Name suits the track theme very well. Another awesome track  . Not much drumming :D but awesome. I was hypnotized not just by track but also image cover.

Congrats Taron on a nice vst instrument. Reminds me in sound of the partials based synths like NI's Prism, but MUCH easier to use. Here's my last minute and fairly short submission:

BJ made a track! YAY! :hyper: :tu: ...man this is pure meditation!
Can't wait to comment on all the tracks, actually! 8)

As for cpu spikes...I wonder, if 574X was using an older version? Before the later updates I still had Debug info on, even in the release version, and simply forgot about it. Along with a few other improvements the latest versions should all behave quite nicely, even in Reaper. I've used 36 instances on my 2.6Ghz Xeon (dual 6 core, ok, ok) on the onboard Realtek sound card disaster and even with the mildly hungry panagement and plenty of abstract chambers it never went near critical. *at 48 khz/ 16 bit
Granted, many instances were for the drums, only ever playing one note, but I've also got organ and key patches in there, some of them have the sustain pedal firmly down as I glissando across the keyboard, hehehehe...especially at the end.

Anyhow, there's always plenty of room for improvement and I'm excited to go at it again, of course! :phones:

Hmmm, possibly panagement has transient troubles, true, I remember mildly sloppy moments, but I'm just too in love with it to let this stop me from using it! Thanks for the heads up, though! :tu:

Refering to 574X's post above, where he discussed the plugins that are used by the contributions, I come back to my suggestion for a futur version of OSC, where
  • Not only the Synth plug-in is given but also...
  • a set of FX is given, which does mean that only the given plug-ins must be used, but does not restrict how they where used, be it inserts, sends and how many instances are used.
  • built in FX or built in mixer channel stuff like in Cubase should then be forbidden
The Set should be a comprehensible set of all sorts of FX (dynamics, EQ, reverb,...) and they must be available in 32 and 64 bits.
Fun would be to see what people would do when the FX set also places some challenges on them, i.e. no reverb, or no delay?

Just think about it - If we all use the same FX then I would say there's no problem to open even for a simple distortion FX.

And for the fun of it - I would also suggest that the winners of the previous challenge as well as the bottom five choose any FX, that they haven't used in their track ;-)

Appart from a simple search in KVR, you can scan the following thread for potential candidates to the OSC set of FX, where a number of 64 Bit free plugins have been collected by KVR users: viewtopic.php?f=6&t=390110&start=240

Sounds like a fun time yea. But then I think... stuff like delay is real easy to do with midi. Sure you could just program the synth to respond to cc or velocity. But if it can't do that? You need a ton of instances. Seems like it's only gonna hurt people who have shitty computers you know?

Love that idea of a restricted arsenal anyway. Cool stuff.

Your right about the Delay, haven't thought about it that way...

Anyway what do you think if we two just start and come up with list and try out if it works?
Should we start with a list of what classes of plugins we would need like eq, dynamics, reverb and then choose a plugin per class?

Damn got real dramatic in here for no reason...
Man always that one guy gotta come outta the blue and f*ck up the mood.

Thanks for keeping it in better spirits! It's my precious OSC 15 pages of fame and it's going so well.

I actually like Peter's suggestion! I think it would be completely fascinating to see how we all do it with the same set of tools (except DAW). We've had experimental rules before, so why not try this one. Of course, the set would have to be chosen well to serve 32bit, 64bit and possibly even the various OS's (win, mac, linux). But if that all was granted...wow! I'd love that challenge and it's possibly quite educational, too.

Go to general discussion and setup a good discussion to figure out the fx candidates! :tu:
...and let's get back to "My Precious" here, please! :D

Good idea to move the discussion to General thread :tu:
CU there.

... and what a precious little beast it is too  - many congratulations on getting it to this level and for being so *brave* to let us mangle it around :tu:

Some very good tracks here - and a good variety of sounds too, which just shows what can be dragged out of your synth given its interesting sonic concept.

Thanks, Bob, yeah, I'm SUPER THRILLED! So fun to hear all the different ideas and various achievements, really. Just awesome! :hyper:
I'll hold back with my heart-felt "Thank You" speech to all of you until it's all done, I think, and I'll have listened carefully to all the tracks, too. Normally I try to hold back and not listen to any until voting time, but of course I couldn't help myself and skimmed them all to some extend... so crazy. But more on all that later. :)
