We should encourage Wagsfrm (or however this legend is spelled correctly) to deliver a soundset... It would be his bestselling thing...martinjuenke wrote:Yeah, simply the best!martinjuenke wrote:But cool!garryknight wrote:As everyone on KVR knows, this plugin is the best.

In my opinion best new vst synth (2017):
Full Bucket Music - FB 3300
Stone Voices - PolyGAS
Blamsoft - VK-1 Viking Synthesizer (free or not free?)
Acidose - Xhip
Krakli - Arminator
Seaweed - Fathom Synth
IK Multimedia - Syntronik Free
So, you can see the video on my youtube's Soundsaar Music Studio channel.

I usually go to the OSC site and check out the tracks for free synths. It gives an idea of synth's capabilities. Consider these as demo tracks for the synth. Some participants share the presets they create for their tracks.
Most of the synths used are free.

I do hope you can all remember what VST stands for. If not, no more music making for you! Go and stand in a corner until you've worked it out!
And no Googling!

OP hasn't been back since 2016 ...
but anyway, the best recent freebie is VCV Rack by a mile (even tho' its not yet available as vst)

I'm a big fan of KX77FREE synths too ... great they're available as 64bit now (AU too). http://kx77free.free.fr/English-page-vst.html

Green Oak's Crystal. I used to use that back in the day when I was a poor student. I don't think it's been updated in a while, but its ability to mutate and breed sounds is great.
Also, HG Fortune synths are amazing for pads. Better than a lot of commercial synths if you don't mind 32 bit.

Some of the free stuff from u-he, ambience as a reverb solution (was using that plugin for nearly a decade and actually I had no solid reason for replacing it), then of course some of the emulations of vintage synthesizers like the SQ8L. I also recommend you the plugin palette from Sawfan Matni, you mostly need some processing when using those because they're recorded cheaply but those are original middle-eastern sampled instruments (including pianos) and that percussion kit is really great.

Look at soundfont/sf2 instruments. There are hundreds of them mentioned in this forum, https://musescore.org/en/forum/776rardier wrote:there s a lot of cool free synth and fx, but i can t find good free accoustic instruments ( piano/guitars/ orchestra), if you can name some it would be great!
