Yeah I'm seeing a lot of company names here that I just can't understand how they're horrible names. It seems as if some people are just naming any company that comes to mind. :dog:

Blue Cat Audio. Might as well have called it 'Brown Underpants Audio'.
This is the same method MJ used when he was working on Anthony Marinelli's Thriller.

'Bruns & Spork' could become 'Runs & Pork'.

Love me some NI, but dat name tho. What about a Balinese Gamelan is native to Germany?
I can appreciate not appreciating a company name, but, you might want to think about it a bit before you spout off some nonsense like that.

Native Instruments has been around for a long time. In the earliest days of plugins there were few plugins that ran "natively" on the CPU. Most used external DSP resources like UAD plugins do, or more specifically, ProTools plugins at the time. So, native, in this context, has nothing to do with Germany and everything to do with what they did, i.e., create "native" instruments, instruments that ran "natively" on your processor.

I figured I was the only one who thinks this! Up until recently I've avoided Softube plugs simply because of the idiotic Gobbler license manager!

Cytomic .... only because it is similar to Crysonic, and imo doesn't scan well (when browsing forum thread titles) if you're familiar with Crysonic and unfamiliar with Cytomic.

ymmv.

Wow, my comment must've really pissed you off in a very personal way to justify such a snarky response.
I just don't like the name. It's not the "most horrible", but so aren't most others in this thread.
It just rubs me the wrong way because it's unfitting, that's all.
Their name suggests they'd be doing mainly "ethnic sound generators", which isn't the case as one can quickly tell by glancing at their product portfolio, or that their focus was "computer calculated instruments", which also isn't the case for all the computer calculated FX and hardware controllers they've made over the years.

I also don't like the name Toontrack, because it's a brand from before their audio days, when they were still doing cartoon animation software. It's the wrong label.

I'm sorry if that offends you equally heavily as the NI thing, but I guess you'll just have to live with me not feeling the same way about something as you do.
Confucamus.

Your comment was just wrong. Instead of getting all butthurt over it, man up and say "oh yeah, that makes sense, I didn't know that. " Because no matter how much more nonsense you type, everyone here knows that you posted in ignorance.

No it doesn't. I guess you're not exactly au fait with computers or tech in general. 'Native' is a word and concept that is both current & well used as part of tech vernacular.

I think that would be more interesting.

What compelled someone to name their company 'Chicken Systems'? They make a sample converter/mapper program.

Native Instruments sucks.

ghettosynth sucks twice as hard.

There, I've clarified it for you.

I'd really like to hear the reasoning behind these opinions.. There are some names mentioned that I find pretty good.
