I've just assigned two multi envs to filter cutoff and they work fine and as expected...

Thanks for checking.EvilDragon wrote:I've just assigned two multi envs to filter cutoff and they work fine and as expected...
I notice it works with filter cutoff. Even tried with three multi envelopes and everything was as expected.
When assigned to the gain knob (key group) the parallel function seem not to work the same. As soon as I add a second multi envelope I only get silence.

That would be because when modulating gain/amplitude, modulations are multiplicative rather than additive. That is a normal thing, I would say.

Well it's just that step envelope in spline mode behave a bit like a multi envelope as it do curves between steps, just like you would usually use the multi envelope.liv wrote:Thanks, not sure I follow. With the overall "unlimited" feel working with Falcon it'd be nice if this could be 128, at least.
For 128 steps, you can use Step envelope and spline mode as a workaround?
Currently I have used two multi envelopes assigned to same knob as a workaround which although a bit cumbersome, gets the job done.
Definitely not the same though but depending on what you are trying to achieve, it could do the trick.

Yeah, it has a fixed curvature in spline mode, so it's not gonna be the same.
But shouldn't it be relatively easy to add support for more points in multi env?

Ah, ok, thanks. Yes, it's a bit too limiting for this case scenario.otristan wrote:Well it's just that step envelope in spline mode behave a bit like a multi envelope as it do curves between steps, just like you would usually use the multi envelope.liv wrote:Thanks, not sure I follow. Concerning the 64-point limit in the multi envelope, the workaround would be, to program 2 envelopes and then alternate them using a sub-modulator (like a tempo-synced, square-shaped LFO) with inverted polarity for the second envelope, so for e.g. 4 bars multi env 1 plays and for the second for bars envelope 2 is engaged. Attached is a quick and dirty FM patch using such a setup.

Thanks. Yes, thats the exact same method I use for Massive when lengthening the performer from 16 to 32 steps.Sampleconstruct wrote:Concerning the 64-point limit in the multi envelope, the workaround would be, to program 2 envelopes and then alternate them using a sub-modulator (like a tempo-synced, square-shaped LFO) with inverted polarity for the second envelope, so for e.g. 4 bars multi env 1 plays and for the second for bars envelope 2 is engaged. Problem remains tho afaict if modulating gain/vol. Also together with the inconvenience of toggling back/forth when editing it feels like a 128 limit could be a matter of a few lines of code. Whether or not, 128 or more rimes well with Falcons overall "unlimited" feel and for me it would be a major thing.

No, the problem does not remain, I assigned both of the multi envelopes to keygroup gain in that demo patch, the alternation works perfectly fine.liv wrote:Thanks. I'll check the 128 thing, there was probably a reason for this upper bound.
Still, there is far easier way to do this than alternate envelope.
Just use two envelope, with the second one with the first step step that does half the length of the first envelope set to 1 or 0 (1 for multiplicative mod like volume, 0 for additive) and the first env with its last step set to the same inactive step.
Limited number of steps do not means that you cannot stretch one step to half of the total length.
i.e you combine those two envelope in a multiplicative or additive way.

It's still a workaround for something that should be a bit more open and forgiving, considering we can have "any" number of oscillators in keygroups, "any" number of layers, etc... If Omnisphere can have quite a bit more than 64 breakpoints in its multi-segment envelopes (I think technically you can have any number of points, while the length of the envelope is limited to 100 (!) bars), why couldn't Falcon?

I notice UVI release a new synth every few weeks and always at half price to tempt people. UVI must think we have unlimited resources to buy all these synths. I was thinking of buying Falcon but that's not cheap at around $300. Wouldn't it be fair to add all these new synths for Falcon owners for free?
