It's short for transistor. The MS1 is an MS20 mk1 filter model and it uses non-differential transistors as gain elements in the filter core. Normally two transistors are used which makes a more symmetric drive shape, but this one is "one sided" in that a single transistor is used.

Wow, I didnt see it that way, I assumed he as talking about transistors.
Just as the Americans used to refer to radios and Trannys.

Considering we are in a computer/electronic equipment and music forum, I'm more concerned that transistor isn't the first thing thought of upon reading the word tranny.

(I'm assuming you meant "topics" instead of "optics", as I'm not sure how eyewear / vision comes into it apart from perhaps the look of the web page!)

I used the word tranny partly because of the double meaning. I suppose I could have named it "ms1 demo", but where's the fun in that? If someone is offended by the name of that track then I would prefer they don't buy the software anyway, so it works out well for everyone, so view it as a filter for the filter

I've got gay, lesbian, and transvestite friends (and every mix possible around those themes - I lose track of such labels and just consider them friends). One particular "tranny" friend of mine is also a DJ and they thought it was funny. So if you're a transvestite and don't think it's funny then I'm sorry about that, but please realise I'm just being light hearted, and there is no ill will at all intended with the pun.
