Why is it that when you hit "psytrance 2017" in youtube search, and watch practically ANY video from there that has some footage from psytrance parties, there's only men in those videos?

Or then some dancing girl, who has 10-20 men behind her.

Or some footage taken from some high place and there's around 20 women and 400 men :D
(or 40 women and 800 men etc etc..)

I mean wtf? Do I have to start making EDM? :nutter:

Depends on what kind of girls that you're trying to attract. I think that the best formula is whichever genre makes you the most money.

There's not much money or girls in psytrance, drugs on other hand...If you ultimate goal is to get money and girls, do&DJ progressive house.
This entire forum is wading through predictions, opinions, barely formed thoughts, drama, and whining. If you don't enjoy that, why are you here? :D ShawnG

hmmm....

well think it depends a lot on where you are.

here in the usa....when psytrance was going strong...there were lots of women...it was pretty even really. now psytrance is all but dead in the usa. but, if you can manage to find a festival or even a one night event now....its still pretty even.

the psytrance scene here has never been a "sausage" festival.

Really? As a DJ I want to see "people" dancing. In particular, I want to see them lost in the groove, ignoring me and on a journey of their own. I've never really thought much about the gender balance in the audience, per se, while I'm playing.

A 90's thing:

Norway "gave" the world Black Metal

Finland gave the world Suomisaundi

Sweden gave the world Ace of Base

I think we should just accept the fact that psytrance is predominantly a male thing and live with that. My wife doesn't understand why psytrance is even called music.

Though I've learned about this music (well, let's assume it's still music) genre from my ex. But she was a rare exception.

You may think you can fly ... but you better not try

Psytrance is probably the Heavy Metal in the genre of Electronic Music

Women appear to prefer funky stuff, something which Psytrance or Heavy Metal aint for the most part.

You are EDM yourself. :x

I'll now start killing a kitten each time I hear someone calls psytrance EDM.

Well, psytrance is EDM if you use the original meaning, which has been around since at least the early 90s, of the acronym, i.e., an umbrella term for all "electronic dance music." EDM became a genre when the ignorant started using the umbrella term to describe that thing that they had just discovered.

It's no different than when the masses in the 90s started using "techno" to describe all four on the floor dance music.

Source?

I read mixmag alot during the 90's they never talked about Electronic Dance Music or EDM ?

If you ask me EDM is a total revisionist term, like calling Beatles Brit-pop
