What happens if my iLOK dies?

Got a little scare inserting the iLok and didn't light up, switching USB port got it working luckily.
But got me thinking if it could be close to keeling over.
So I moved my XILS and AIR licenses to the computer just in case. I got some UVI's on it still, but as UVI offer 3 activations per license I will have two left should the iLOK die.
Because if it should die then the licenses are lost right? They cannot be recovered?
I haven't tried it but is it possible moving iLOK licenses via the cloud in PACE manager, between different computers? I mean if I didn't have the dongle but wanted to move the XILS license from one to another computer.

Most like only a contact issue. The most used USB port on the front of my desktop PC is a bit worn out already, and, some USB devices which are also a bit worn, won't contact as well as they did before. I think that's also the reason why they make USB ports so damn narrow these days. With the result that the wear on the contacts will be even bigger, because they get torn that way.
My version 2 iLok looks pretty solid BTW. At least much more solid than a competing product (yes, Steinberg, looking at you).

Yeah most probably a case of paranoid Numanoid.
But the USB port in question works with MIDI keyboard, and USB storage, so it is not dead.

Yeah, i think the connectors always differ a bit, and some may make contact, while others, which may be a bit more worn out, won't. I guess it's the most used USB port on your machine?

Do ZDT w/TLC and make sure to refresh every so often.
Best insurance policy you can have against having (potentially) tens of thousands of dollars of plugins just disappear (it can happen).

Did I have that much value on the iLOK I would go with ZDT. But so far I haven't gone with it, as it costs money.rifftrax wrote:Do ZDT w/TLC and make sure to refresh every so often.

But in case the iLOK should die at home with that kind of values onboard (due to being dropped on the floor or something like that), if a person got some kind of "home & contents" insurance, wouldn't it not be eligible to be covered by that?

I just hope I amount to bigger value in the end than the content on my iLOK
