70's and 80's Horror movie sound........

Ok this has been buggin me for a while now. Theres this noise thats a cliche in old school horror movies. To me it sounds like giant glass chimes with delay or something. It usually comes on in a suspensful part. One of you sound experts must know what it is.

dude are u talking about a prepared piano?? that was hella popular for horror movie soundtracks back in the day
waterphones however, cost roughly $900, and are hand-made only by its creator (his last name is Water, forgot his full name). it makes a hell of a sound, i gotta admit. a bit too pricey for me right now but there are cheaper alternatives: Absynth can make a similar sound. theres a few presets that come close to this. One of them is in the Factory Presets but i forget the name of it.

You are the freggin man Daath!!!! Thats exactly what I was talking about. When he did that thing with the bow it was exactly what I was thinking of. Damn that is a dope instrument. I would have never guessed that in my life, I didnt even know it existed

When he rubbed the bottom of the Waterphone it sounded like the whale sounds from the movie ORCA
