It just sounds FLIPPIN' AMAZING. The whole synth is a massive sweet-spot, even farts sound glorious with it.

Another synth, although not analog, that has the same "whole-synth-is-a-sweet-spot" thing, from my experience, is the Yamaha AN1x.

The Cats have a very unique feature set and incredibly thick sound. There's nothing like them, really.

Same chip in Cat SRM, but completely different circuit. Cat and Cat SRM have very much got a filter topology like no other. Only Cat SRM II has a classic ladder filter (SSM 2044).
Ah ok cool thanks for the info. Still want the Cat very much :)

Please code it then
Using: Cubase Pro 15, Reason 13, Tascam US-4x4HR, MODX6, DM12D, LaunchKey 49, Yamaha guitar(Pacifica 612v) and bass (BB234) and some virtual instruments and synths.

He didn't say they'd abandoned the idea... just that their attention is more focused toward Zebra at the moment, which is probably the right call... :tu:

There we have it again, 24 hours in a day just isn't enough.

The question is what extra FX or goodies would we see on a cat.
I mean Repro-1 is awesome but the FX (and yes, especially JAWS) makes it beyond awesome.
When i think of it i would like the idea of a few of these iconic synths, each with it´s own unique
features and FX build on this.
And when we finally have quantum computers U-he could let us use all these as modules in the Berlin Modular like Blocks on steroids.
And while we are here....let me just use every U-he plug-in then inside it.
So we have the U-he Reaktor but with better GUI.
Oh....it seems i´m 10-20 years in the future. I´m just scared to not be there until that happens.
No pressure but hurry up please :D

Yes I know ;) I'm just being pushy and annoying so Urs takes attention :hihi:

Sure the Zebra crowd has been waiting for a long time, so this is what the first priority should be logically. I might jump into Zebra 3 as well although I like the analogue emulations more and more with time! So, I really hope that the (polyphonic 8) ) CAT synth would come after Z3.

Of course at best i also want both.
I mean Zebra is an awesome versatile synth but then i fiddle for hours with knobs and modules for finding the sound i want.
Then i open Repro-1 turn a few knobs and in a few minutes i got a massive wall of earth shaking sound.
I´m more and more amazed what i can do with a single voice in terms of FX, even foley like sound FX and crazy stuff which might sounds weird but organic in a way it´s hard to achieve with other synths.
I do wish someone could emulate the Telharmonium :D
Are there even exist samples from this?
I just love these old obscure electro mechanical stuff. So you need also to emulate all that noise, clicks and whatever it would do.
Building tacked pianos and such is an old thing but what about some electromechanical tools.
Or just create the "Synthscape" bundle which offer the oldest available synthesizers and electro mechanical instruments on earth.
Enough 80´s sounds. Let´s go back further.
I once listened to an old instrument of this kind as child but don´t know what it was even. But it´s strange that i still remember that the timbres it created was in a way so impressive and remarkable that i never got the same feelings again. I just can describe it as "character" in a way i was almost hypnotized by it´s sound.
But who knows....maybe my mind plays a game with me.

@ED and @Urs.
Thanks.
I just never really heard of them till Urs mentioned them a few years ago.
And I am old enough to have :-)

You definitely gotta watch Dave Spiers' video about the Cat, then:

Okay, what's the closest thing to this sound wise and structure wise or do I have to whip out a modular and put it together?

Wow! Just wow!
