I need a Studio Desk

I need a new Studio Desk but i don't know if i can explain what i exactly need.
Ok, something like this:
https://on-stage.com/products/view/12503
but, isn't the Synth being too high in there? I want something that is the opposite
of this where the Synth would be on the bottom and the keyboard on Top.
I mean i want the Synth to be somewhere at a Piano Height, why are all deks with
the Synth board being up so high? Is there anything? I do not need nothing fancy and
special but to be able to have the synth at a Synth Stand Height not level with my neck.
The reason is i do not wanna have a stand in front of the Desk, takes too much space.
And there is no desk which is also height adjustable.
Thanks

Maybe Google Zaor. They are well built and pretty affordable. Some studio desks are height adjustable. Unfortunately, these ones cost three arms. Instead another approach is to find a brand where the KB trays are already at the good height. Zaor has a somewhat good quality-price ration. Better desks are more expensive.

I make due with one of these, but I don't love it. Mine has a rack as well tucked underneath the top shelf on the right side.BasariStudios wrote:I need a new Studio Desk but i don't know if i can explain what i exactly need.

Space on the desk itself is kind of limited if you have an extra computer monitor plus laptop plus various controllers, papers, drinks, usb hubs, etc. Top shelf is too high and far away for me to put a monitor on.
I also found the desk too high for my synth so I removed the keyboard tray and slid the synth underneath on its own stand. My midi controller is just a Keystation 88 so I slide it all the way under except for the exposed keys as I don't need any other buttons on it .. pretty comfortable position except for the synth stand which occasionally gets in the way.
I just use the laptop keyboard which works OK.
I have a couple of controllers (Korg nanokontrol, AKAI MPC, Presonus faderport) which can't all fit at once. Which is ok .. I never use them all at once.
Maybe the best solution is to build something yourself to suit your needs, likely starting with a generic flat desk.

I bought one of these
http://www.bestbuy.com/site/z-line-desi ... Id=2321325
It works well for what I need, with the JBL LSR305s on the top shelf on either side of my new 24" monitor. I keep the MIDI keyboard, headphones and audio interface on the main desk below that, and then the wireless keyboard and mouse on the pull-out shelf below the keyboard. This should probably be in a different part of the forum as it is about desks, but at least I have Falcon on the screen.

I have a possible solution for you. This is what I did.
I got a cheap microsoft computer keyboard and 2 thin brackets similar to this..
that I could bend with my hands.
I mounted the computer keyboard on the bracket on top of my midi keyboard, drilled screws into both so the computer keyboard is at a 45 degree angle. My midi keyboard is impule, the screws went in the back. The computer kb was put over the drum pads and I use a separate drum controller anyway. The screen monitor is on a small bench, face level.

The problematic thing is that the optimum height and distance for a MIDI keyboard and the PC keyboard/input device is the same - so you end up having to favor one at the expense of the other...they obviously both can't occupy the same space. The closest solution I've found is using a controller keyboard that has enough surface space to put the PC keyboard and cursor control device directly on it. You're still reaching a little further for the latter items than is ideal, though.
It depends on what you do most, I guess. Myself, now that I'm recording a lot of bass and guitar again and am not as synth-centric, I'm reaching for the PC keyboard/cursor device more often than MIDI keys. So it would probably make more sense to have the PC keyboard/RollerMouse on a tray at the ideal height and distance and have a MIDI keyboard on the desk for general duties, with an additional MIDI keyboard at a 90-degree angle to the desk (so it's at the right height and distance when you sit at it) for those times when I really want to dig into keyboard parts.
A lot of the expensive desks are pretty to look at, but don't look like they're sporting any real ergonomic breakthroughs above and beyond what you'd get from cheap furniture that has things at the right height. Sure, many of them have built-in racks. Set a couple of small racks on top of your desk and you've accomplished the same thing from a working standpoint. If the desk is wide enough, you could even slip a couple of taller racks underneath it at each end and have something more "modular" than an all-in-one design.

I owned something similar to that desk a while back. The monitor position was too close and high (with a 24" monitor) and uncomfortable for long sessions.BasariStudios wrote:I need a new Studio Desk but i don't know if i can explain what i exactly need.

I got this custom made not too long ago by a company in the UK called Skyline Audio. Even though the screen is 50" it's much better due to the distance. The Keyboard placed on the top position is ideal for standing up while playing and the lower position is ideal for seated.but, isn't the Synth being too high in there? Obviously it'd be too expensive to have it built here and posted to you but it might be a good idea to get someone local to make something similar.

I have had great use from this: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B00JREVI5G/re ... B009MQTMGG
Useful things about it:
• It's height adjustable (removable hand crank on one side)
• On four wheels
I still need to modify the underside of the lower level to accommodate a computer keyboard/mouse tray. Should be simple, but haven't gotten around to it.

It's the music that makes the science worthwhile.

+1 For my setup, I guess I could put the MIDI keyboard on the lower pull-out shelf and put the PC keyboard and mouse on the main desk. It is just a case of which one you use more I guess. If you are going to be doing a lot of typing (like I do), you might want it set like in my photo.el-bo (formerly ebow) wrote:^ ^ ThisVectorman wrote:The problematic thing is that the optimum height and distance for a MIDI keyboard and the PC keyboard/input device is the same - so you end up having to favor one at the expense of the other...
I am not always playing or practicing with the keyboard, so I don't mind the way its set for now. Then again, maybe I will switch it around for a few days just to see how I like it. The PC's keyboard and mouse are wireless so that part of it is easy to switch around.

This is true but it can be solved:

Thefact is that you don't need the music keyboard so close to you and there is enough space to place the computer keyboard in front of the other, I designed this desk (very simple really) with enough surface to acomodate the typing keyboard and the digital piano at the right height, the monitor arm helps to make it very confortable.

Pretty good set up. The only thing is you have to constantly bend forward to reach the computer kb. This can cause lower back pain. Even when your spine is straight you can still end up with back pain because your arms are out stretched..the added weight of your arms forward. Its only a problem though if it's repetitive. Lower back pain can be a real bitch. When you're sitting in one spot for 5 hours and you got all that upper body weight pressing down, moving forward constantly makes matters worse.layzer wrote:head to home depot, buy 8x4 particle board, some black paint, build your own.
