Let's imagine that I'd start an online store that would sell my own samplelibraries and preset packs.
How do I do it? Of course legal stuff may vary in different countries but anyways.

I really like to tweak around with my synths when I'm not making music (kinda meditational to make piles of sounds), so I thought that even though there are piles and piles of stuff already in the market, my sounds are often different and could find some audience to buy them.

So if thinking in steps:

1: Make several banks/packs ready

2: Build a site and buy a domain

3:?

4:?

5:?

How do I set up everything? Actual selling?

Wordpress site. PayPal for payment. Give away some "tasters". Get a KVR developer account. Contact KVR, Rekkerd, BPB for publicity. FB too mebbe ...

I started Plughugger some seven years ago by just jumping right into it. I changed underlying systems many times. The worst time was when I tried to make the smartest and coolest looking website I could do. I went Joomla - it looked gorgeous, but it was a total hell updating it.

Make things simple from your end. What will ultimately depend on your success is the quality of your sounds - not how cool the web page looks like. Goldbaby is one of my favourite developers and his web page is simple yet effective. Good things eventually sell themselves.

Be patient. Don't count on success overnight. It takes time to build a good solid catalogue.

Have fun! The best soundsets I've ever done is the ones I really had fun making. Find your strength when it comes to sound design and go from there.

The best thing to do is to start it up promising all the content suppliers that it'll be selective and only contain quality products, and then over time just spam the crap out of the site with Future (insert genre here) presets for Serum.

Or at least, that's what everybody else does.

Good advice here. 99sounds is another place, where you can put up a free pack for show, along with other quality packs.
