Real questions, comments from actual users are getting lost in the side talk and posturing. I mean seriously... If Syntronik isn't your cup of tea, great. Make your point and move on. Constantly coming back to this thread and justifying your reasons is just sad.
This isn't IK's forum. It's the general instrument forum. This point was made earlier in the thread. IK should start a support thread on this product in their own forum where they are the moderators and can regulate conversation in that way.

Here, in the instrument forum, we talk about instruments. So, if you want the larger readership of the instrument forum to promote your product, you run the risk that other readers are going to talk about it, as an instrument. That's why we come to KVR in the first place.

If that conversation doesn't interest you, then make your way over to IK's forum and start a thread there.

What you don't seem to realize is all of this crying and whining about how other people talk and use KVR is ACTUALLY off topic and adds nothing to the thread. Moreover, it is by its nature antagonistic, whereas other people are just talking about synths, as is fair and reasonable in this forum, you are just talking about other people, which is off topic and falls under the umbrella of whining.

I have them both. For their time, I think they were marvelous. I could not wait until SampleTank 3 was released so that I could have access to those sounds in a 64-bit plug-in. However, the age is quite apparent. The samples are, not surprisingly, rather inferior to that which we've become accustomed in this age of relatively plentiful memory and fast disk transfer speeds. Back then (and we are talking well over a decade ago, if I'm not mistaken), 24 bit depth for the home studio was only a dream.

After a full day playing with Syntronik, I concur with the view that it is an amazing device for those of us who like really song ready patches for recording with other instruments (like guitars and drums). A really good purchase.

BTW, the foe list on these forums is excellent. The addition of one name makes this entire thread so much more readable and less irritating. I suspect this will be the case across the board.

Well, if you have a fair number of UVI vintage synths (and I know you do) you will find it to be a very similar experience. Different packaging and so forth, but basically the same set of both advantages and limitations: rich, classic sounds that can easily be user-created, but limited modulation options compared to a full-function synth for which modulation options are unlimited but for which ground-up sound design is not for casual practitioners.

A big difference is that Syntronik GUI can be resized. Which means a lot for the hands on experience.

UVI's GUIs are becoming painfully small on todays hi-res monitors.

LOL... your post is dripping with irony (if you're slow-- it's because you are actually making your post personal (I was generalizing about a couple of seemingly off-topic side discussions)), but I guess that's what youre aiming for? The topic / conversation actually interests me immensely, but not for the same reasons apparently. As is often the case, there are a few children, who fill compelled to state their opinions as if they are important to others, or try to dictate what acceptable discussion is about. As you point out though - that is ok. I can happily try to post questions (as i did earlier) about the product, and even my opinion on it. If you don't like that, feel free to take your own advice.

I'm not the one complaining and asking people to move on, you were, see, look up there, it's in your own words. I simply gave you a solution to get what you want and explained to you why your request makes no sense in this forum.

You can call other people names, but you were whining about other posts. I wouldn't have even responded if your post only contained the question/comment about the synth.

I just tried a couple UVI synths on my new monitor, and they are definitely smaller... but I can still use them. I use a 1920 by 1080 resolution.

That said, I agree that they should look into developing larger display sizes.

The UVI stuff is fine at 1080p. I use 2560x1440 most of the time and have no problem with them. They're a bit small at 4K though.

Changes in sampletank: all the new filters are there plus we now have a sample 1 & 2 dropdown in the edit menu..plus new effects of course. did I miss anything?

It is ok, I just meant if it was any smaller (higher resolution) then it might be tough to see. 8)

OK, I just spent an hour with the FREE version comparing it to other software synth libraries via Kontakt and UVI, and also true synths like Diva and OP-X Pro II, and I have to say that I am extremely grateful.... that I did NOT buy Syntronik. I feel bad to say it, but IMO Syntronik just sounds somewhat boring and lifeless compared to what I put up against it. I'm not an IKM hater because I absolutely love Amplitube, and 10 years ago I loved the original Sampletank, but just like Sampletank 3, Syntronik is a disappointment to me. Using Syntronik's Oberheim patches against the Oberheim emulating OP-X Pro II, and there is no comparison....to my ears anyway. From the original IK description of Syntronik, I really thought that they may have surprised me with something that I would like, but I was wrong unfortunately. My opinion is only based on the FREE version though, so perhaps the paid version is a step up? I'm sure I'm just a bit more picky though since I already have a nice hardware and software synth collection though. If I was just starting out and owned nothing yet, Syntronik would probably be more appealing to me though, I will admit.

Yes, the Oberheim patches that are bundled with the free version aren't particularly good and the filters don't really sing. I suspect that there is at least more variety in the full version, but the free version does make it clear that what could have been interesting in the synth engine, really isn't.

I think that a lot of people did. In fact, the hype fueled much of the contention earlier in this thread. What this product comes down to though is do you like IK's idea of a sample library. As I've said several times, it's a weak rompler to begin with, but, there was at least some hope for someone else jumping into the quality modeled filters game. Now that the jury is in on that score, it's clear that IK has a lot of catching up to do.

This isn't trivial really. One of the things that makes certain subtractive synths more versatile is the quality of the filter in terms of how dynamic they are when pushed and modulated. A good resonant filter doesn't just take away harmonics, it adds them in interesting ways. So, even given how simple the rompler engine is, it could have been more interesting had the filters been better and had that been explored more in the patches. IMO, they're really not suited to that, even Arturia's (better) filters have more character.
My opinion is only based on the FREE version though, so perhaps the paid version is a step up?
As I understand it, only in the variety of patches/samples. The rest of the product is the same. After all, you can buy the sample packs for it separately, no?
