How do you loop a selection

Hey I'm new to this, so forgive me if I'm not understanding...
First you need to have the region set. You do this by click-dragging the numbers in the timeline. It'll highlight the region in blue. Once that's set, shift+space enables "play from region" and "loop" and starts playing, on my computer at least.
You can also set a region by clicking some chords in the master track, and then hit T.
Basically you need to have the region set for shift+space to have the effect you want. If you've already got it set, I'm afraid I can't help...
