we should respect the music style od each other, a sound is a sound, it's a matter of context, i don't like spytrance but i respect people who do it, speaking about a genre we don't know is the reflexion of poor knowledge. i have listen one time infected mushroom, not my cup of tea, but, if they have some audience, it's because they are good in what they do( they are super star in their country and play all around the World) same for dubstep, metal, hiphop...we should speak about Sound and synth, basta. making a good growl, wup, wup or fart like i read sometimes here and here is difficult like making a good fm cello...when i listen some speudo reese in a cinematic trailer or in a movie, it can sound like crap and nobody is hurt, same for some orchestration in dubstep or edm,after that, let's speak about Dune2.

Rejected! They are not Psytrance!

They are great sounds Seriously, that's what I like in Dune 2

Those are nice mellow sounds which is what Dune is really good at imo. Should I need such sounds I know where to look.

Someone asked what psytrance sounds like. I can give few examples of what I consider excellently produced psytrance (these are not necessatily my fav tracks but I think they show the psytrance sound aethetics really well)

Arguably some of the sounds we hear here can be approximated with Dune 2 (and I actually did recreate some of them) but i'm struggling with working against Dune's mellow, soft character which shines through even when FM, distortion and ofher supposedly agressive sounding stuff is used. Virus TI and Spire are typcally getting me closer with less effort (which is by no means to say they are better synths per se).

TBH, i'm still trying to figure out how my post that Dune is not the optimal choise as the only/main synth for psytrance triggered few pages of discussion where the people who participated mostly don't care about this genre and some may have little, if any, idea of what it sounds like.

Well, I didn't start it! The "Spy" guy started it by looking down at other genres (and Dune 2 of course) from his Spy space! He is still 'trolling' as well

Why I should respect his genre if he doesn't respect others?!! The same applies on synths as well! But I understand very well his motives

Hey mate, if that's directed at me, I don't remember where I said anything disrespectful towards other genres or looked down at Dune 2. But well, the discussion here went far beyond rational already (if it ever was), so let's have fun.

You are always disrespecting other genres and anything else except your holy three (Virus, Spire and holy spirit, I mean Psytrance). You are since a very long time attacking Dune 2 in favour of Spire. Always! even when you try writing something positive about Dune 2, you actually degrading its ability.

Yes, that's intentional. I wanted to show the sounds and tricks which are most typically used in psy, I think each of these tracks serves this exact purpose well.

I agree that these tracks may be boring musically but techncially I think they are very good.

Oh I would love it to be true that D2 and whole bunch of other synths cannot be used for Psy Trance. As if the world needs more extacy ridden stress invoking music than the abyss offers already.

Though I am afraid that it actually is very suitable for that kind of music. If your skills fail you with this synth and others you can always buy yourself a construction kit instead. Modern music technology offers solution to just about every level of competence, though in the case of Psy T, it ain't exactly bliss in my book.

D2, like any decent synth, is easily capable of doing any sounds from this style. I used Albino way back when, along with much simpler synths. There's really nothing complex going on.

These tracks are 20 years old, psy has changed much since then.

I thought KVR is the place where synth lovers discuss synths, share their experience, express their positive and negative opinions and the statements based on user experience that don't look like unconditional praise are not regraded as trolling. Seems that this is not applicable to certian synths.

Ok, it think I'll just refrain from posting anything in D2 threads.
