Except this goes on everywhere here. So good luck finding a "normal" thread.recursive one wrote:These tracks are 20 years old, psy has gone a long way since then.AnX wrote:
D2, like any decent synth, is easily capable of doing any sounds from this style. I used Albino way back when, along with much simpler synths. There's really nothing complex going on.
I thought KVR is the place where synth lovers discuss synths, share their experience, express their positive and negative opinions and the statements based on user experience that don't look like unconditional praise are not regraded as trolling. Seems that this is not applicable to certian synths.
Ok, it think I'll just refrain from posting anything in D2 threads.
Plz, remind me about it next time
DUNE 2 is out now!!

So what exactly you were debating?AnX wrote:I wasnt debating the dates. Im well aware of those, i bought the vinyl when it was released.
In terms of production techniques and sound-design modern psytrance is nothing alike these tracks.

This is really tear out hair stuff. You guys don't seem to get that NOONE is claiming that sound XY is NOT doable with another synth. It's about achieving QUALITY sounds. No wonder i gave up participating in discussions like these.
And, another time, what i especially don't get is the incredible despair when someone is saying that synth XY is not very good for sound AB. If you couldn't care less about the kind of sound, then just forget about it. Noone is taking your baby away, or shooting your cat. Really.

kokotte wrote:Recursive, could you post a sound , not a song, hard to archive with dune( when you have some free time), i would like to try to reproduce it.
That's a fairly standart dark psytrance lead. The Serum patch uses FM between oscillators, I think in Dune you will have to use an osc as mod source at audio rate to achieve similar effect cause it's native FM is based on sine waves if i'm not mistaken.
If there will be some interest I may later render some sounds from Virus and you may try recreating them in Dune.

i don't have a Virus Ti, and thanks from taking some time ! great attitude !
from what i ear and see in the tut vid, the phase mod, fm, in serum, is never modulate, same for the pwm in osc A: it's a static waveform, just the hp filter is automate with the amp env, normaly, with the right waveform, it would be possible to recreate it, i will try tomorow and post it.
best.

I spent a little time this afternoon having a play around with Dune2 and knocked up this rough mix:
https://soundcloud.com/gamma-ut/thirdfr ... agmenttest
It's all Dune2 apart from the drums/perc, plus the reverb on the percussion and a single delay send for one of the sounds (the FM saw) because it was quicker to do that way than automate it in Dune2.
Yes, the synthetic dulcimer is because of "spytrance".

That sound is more about the wavetables used than anything about Serum's "engine." Do you not know that Dune can import user wavetables? Are we maybe talking about the fact that the included wavetables are a bit tame for you? If we are, that's pretty silly, as they're easy to augment with whatever ones you want. I have a bank of ones derived from the Prophet VS loaded up, because I kick it "ol' school," as the kids say. (they do still say that, right?)recursive one wrote:kokotte wrote:Recursive, could you post a sound , not a song, hard to archive with dune( when you have some free time), i would like to try to reproduce it.

Quick search of "dune 2 wavetables psy trance" lead me to...
...and oddly, the last Windows update seems to have deinstalled Dune 2 from my plugin folder... wtf?
