Tuning file (.tun) import is just the most easy way for me, so that i don´t have to care about if it is all right in every octave on every key. I even can combine several tunings across my midi keys.
Logic´s global tuning can also be very useful but it´s not as versatile as using just .tun files with instruments which support it (like some U-he synths, Omnisphere, now Falcon, Chromaphone and a few other tools).
