Does this mean we can get back to releasing VST updates?

Post

Yeah, almost 7 weeks now without a VST update. How dare they. :P

It's a synthesizer, not a TV series. An endless stream of novelty is not the key to enduring success.

Get Spire again,

After Dune2 i thought i have the ,,eierlegende Wollmilchsau´´ (eggspending woolmilkpig) but Spire is still a great sounding EDM in your face Synth.

Downloaded the Spire demo earlier...did not have very much time to really dig into it...but thus far,I like the straightforward and efficient functionality of it and it's fun to tweak.
One thing I disliked,is that there seems to be no visual categories(pad, lead, bass & such)...as when I click on the menu,it just reads; factory 1,factory 2 & so on...that's it??
If that is the extent of it,that's not cool, because there is 800 presets. :dog: Nice sounding synth...but with all I already have(Sylenth1,various TubeOhm synths,Vacuum Pro,Analog Lab,Synth Antholgy,Massive..etc...)...I think adding Spire to my collection will be perhaps,redundant?Anyhow...$189 for this synth,is just a bit too much, for me to consider buying(at least not anytime soon.)I'll wait for a sale on it......

One day I must take a listen into the presets in Spire. I haven't even heard them since I checked the demo initially. It has one of the nicest GUI's to look at of any synth and I like most features and as it has been said with those who know it more deeply you need to know its strengths and weaknesses and where its optimal states are. Then you can get some very sweet sounds from it. Initially it may come across as slightly thin sounding. I love the way the controls move like silk and the dark skin is very nice to work with. A synth I warm to more and more.

Presets are all prefixed with the type, but you do have to click on all the banks to see all the leads for example.

Now that the rack extension is done maybe they can implement a unified preset browser .. although the bank method is still very useful when looking to browse a particular third party preset pack

What's in store for Spire 2.0

I think the features the devs announced where all meant to be implemented to version 1 of Spire, so, i'd rather wait for those, than having to spend money for a new version again. But, as we're speculating and "dreaming", those would be my most desired features for Spire 2:

- ZDF filters with more analog resonance behavior, preserving the lovely character of the version 1 filters
- Filter drive
- Wavetable capability, and import/export to the Serum format
- FX version of Spire so that you can use the Spire FX with other VSTi's
- More refined operation, Spire 1 sometimes feels like it hasn't been thought through to the end, and feels a bit unfinished here and there
- Global unison

Apart from that, i still think Spire is great, and does what it does fantastically.

2 spires in one vst as people seem to be obsessed with huge complex sounds in modern synths,
if they are smart and want to sell alot, they will maybe even make spire 2.0
with 8 layered spire1 engines
HW SYNTHS [KORG T2EX - AKAI AX80 - YAMAHA SY77 - ENSONIQ VFX]
HW MODULES [OBi M1000 - ROLAND MKS-50 - ROLAND JV880 - KURZ 1000PX]
SW [CHARLATAN - OBXD - OXE - ELEKTRO - MICROTERA - M1 - SURGE - RMiV]
DAW [ENERGY XT2/1U RACK WINXP / MAUDIO 1010LT PCI]

Yes, at least 8 layers so it has to be more CPU "optimized" :hihi:

Post

While at it, 8 layers with 8 different outputs so it could be used multitimbrally would be great. :tu:

But I would enjoy a TV series about synthesizers.
