i have been using the Usamo with Ableton succesfully for a year now however now that have started using Reaper 5 i am running in to strange behavior. Even though i have used test mode and calibrated the gain so all feedback is green with no errors, the Usamo seems to fail to send a midi clock start signal. I can sync an mpc 1000 by manually starting it in time which then stays in sync and stops from Reaper and the same with a TR8 but does not start when Reaper starts. I was using Win 7 before this and the Usamo would start but with a 3 - 4 beat delay (either with or without pre-roll). I am now on Win 10 and the Usamo activity lights imediately when Reaper starts but does not start anything as mentioned above. Tested the same setup with Ableton and all worked as it should. Any ideas as its starting to get depressing now!!

Tests done using
NI Audio 8 DJ (Asio4all driver) may expirement with the NI driver.....
Win 10 PC
Akai MPC1000
Roland Tr8
XOXBox

note the NI audio 8 DJ does use RCA outputs but never had a problem with the Usamo and Ableton using RCA outs

Does the USAMO plug-in's sent messages window indicate that it's trying to send a MIDI start?

Hi

Thanks for replying, it does indicate that it's trying to send a MIDI start message. I seem to have resolved the issue now by putting a positive offset of 5 in to the plugin the MPC now starts and is in sync but only when it Reaper starts from 0.00 anywhere else and its off by a few ticks. also adding the +5 offset stops the mpc from stopping but enabling delayed stop sorts this. Its not perfect but at least i can work with it unless ypu have any ideas? Thanks

Sounds like Reaper has some issues similar to the Live issues that the 'delay start/stop' settings were introduced to work around. Is this the latest Reaper version?

Yes its version 5.40. Just finished a frustrating session now. Since introducing a Zed usb mixer via asio4all to allow me to record with this and use the audio 8 for the Usamo when i start from 0.00 it now plays at x2 the clock rate! If i start it at bar5 its at the correct rate but off by a few ticks again......Tried the Audio 8 on its own using NI asio driver and unfortunately same results. Hope you can help - thanks again
