Bass pedals on guitars

My friend is a bass player and has sold me a few pedals. I play guitar and have a guitar amp and a bass that I play directly into my computer. Since I have both a guitar and bass would I be getting more use from buying bass pedals? My assumption is that bass pedals can handle a wider range of sound and would work no matter what I played.

I also realize it is a matter of preference. My Digitech Bass Synth Wah sounds great no matter what I am playing. And so is Big Muff Pi for bass. I like the idea that I can get a lot out of bass pedals no matter what I play. I guess I am not looking for right/wrong. Just other people's experience.
