Yes, normally they would send it to you - is it perhaps in your spam-folder?

I checked there, and didn't find any. Anyway, i was able to activate it with the serial and key from my JRRShop dashboard.
Everyone buying this for a delay need to think again BTW. More of a creative "tap" fx, as the name suggests.
Still gotta figure out what i can use it for exactly... from the first look, it rather seemed to be predestined for some "glitch" kind of effects.

For the price, currently 41.16 USD at JRRShop (the cheapest I have found for it yet), I think it's a "must buy". UltraTap is like Yang, where Blackhole is Yin. I'm really weak in this way, the perfect customer

judging by the last video demo, this is what it really sounds like !

If you turn the number of taps down to single digits it behaves more like a
typical delay. To me the most interesting thing about it is that you can
use it to "grow" a sound in interesting ways.
I used it to make a bass line, sound(to me), like a chorus of trumpets
sounding a charge into battle. It really gave that much weight to the sound.
IMHO, it's quite unique, interesting and well designed, as far a delays go.
Just another great example that nearly 50 years experience in the effects
design business is no joke.
Eventide, gotta love em...

I have several of the GRM plugins, including Delays. For the most part, I really like them, but they're not in the same "clean and easy to use" league as the Eventide H9 style plugins are. They do not really morph all that smoothly and that really impacts the workflow.Gamma-UT wrote:GRM Delays has up to 128 taps, with morphing and control over the spread, swell and randomisation of the tap points. But, realistically, once you get past around 20 it's an SFX tool more than anything: "Yay, bouncing balls!"
I really like the ribbon concept. Not that it's an impossible workflow to achieve with other plugins, but setting it up within the plugin, for me, is more useful than it seems that it should be. I use this more often than I do other kinds of macro assignments.
That said, the signal flow of this is pretty simple. While I like slurm, very similar effects can be had by just driving any multitap delay with chorus/diffusion/micropitch. As I understand it, there's nothing special going on in the delay itself in terms of tap randomization. It's all just about what goes into the delay.
I'm on the fence, I like it for workflow, and it's right up my street in terms of the sounds that I can get from it. However, I'm also thinking that the demo is just serving as inspiration for setting up my own plugin chains.

Hate mono only inputs on plugins! "Classic" or not.Klinke1 wrote:reminder: Stereo-input of UltraTap is summed to mono.
(It is the "classic" setup for multitap-delays. Like..Echoboy tapmode, H3000 BandDelays)

Blackhole has been on sale several times for $49. IIRC, three different times over the last two years or so.acousticglue wrote:I guess the question would be is what will this do that my others (Soundtoys, FabFilter, Unfiltered Audio, ReplikaXT) cannot? I have all the delays from above. Black hole is interesting but not at 4x or even two times the price of Shimmer. Now having Quadrovox also does produce a difference.
I think that the signal diagram is interesting to look at for UltraTap as it's rather straightforward. You can easily hear the effects of tone, slurm, and the chopper by setting the tap length to none and the number of taps to 1. This, in effect, turns off the delay.
Where the Eventide stuff really shines, IMO, is how clean it sounds while modulating the controls with the ribbon. I also have most of the delays above, and I might get UltraTap just for the workflow. I use the ribbon quite a bit with BlackHole.

So, some specifics. UA's Sandman Pro has only 16 taps and, IMO, is nowhere near as smooth. It does things that UltraTap can't touch, but it's not a replacement for Ultratap. Replica XT isn't a multitap delay at all, AFAIK, and EchoBoy also cannot replicate the high tap functionality of UltraTap as it also only has 16 taps. I can't say anything about FabFilter stuff as I don't have any of their plugins.ghettosynth wrote:Blackhole has been on sale several times for $49. I have a lot of delays and the only one that I have that comes close is GRM Delays. In some sense Klevgrand's R0verb bears some similarity as it's based on a bunch of delays, but the workflow will be nothing like UltraTap and it's also quite limited, but also cool IMNSHO.
So, for me, I know of no other delay that can replicate the smooth change from rhythmic effect to reverb-esque sound nor give such easy and subtle manipulation of the distribution of the taps with respect to time without glitching.
While the slurm module can probably be duplicated externally without too much difficulty, it sounds good and, if I'm not mistaken, has some complex character shifting with the control. The character above 50 sounds different than below.
I think that this is in the same class of interestingness as Replika XT, Sandman Pro, and Echoboy and definitely adds something that those delays can't do.

Damn.... Now I have to download the demo.
I've had the same questions as already asked and I'm in the same spot as having a "slurm" of delay choices already which is an extensive list.
At $49, plus more discounts this could be useful to have a smooth transition from delay to reverb via a single control, but yeah... I need to demo.
