I go by 1stRiverrat and I have been a musician all my life. I play drums, and French horn for concerts. I went through the Naval school of music in DC played drums in a show group in vegas, Reno. Tahoe, and traveled the states in the US. I read and write though not exceeding well, but I enjoy it. I am using Reason 9.5.1 and have been since Reason 3. My big trouble is I am 81 and had a mini stroke and it effected my memory a bit, especially my short term memory,(and that is a pain you know where.) I have gotten into ambiance music and sound, and love it. I am having trouble getting started with the synthmaster, the videos they show move two fast and I am sure they know what they are talking about, but I try and find the little arrow, they are on something else.
Any way I am getting bit and pieces. Any help?

Welcome to KVR 1stRiverrat, sounds like you have a lifetime full of musical experience to draw on. I tend to favor written tutorials for the same reason, I can go at my own pace. Usually I start by reading the manual, I'm sure others with Synthmaster experience will chime in.

Thank you, I think that is going to be my best bet. I am running Propellerheads Reason 9.5 and I get a little lost at times. I've been using Reason since Reason 3 and quite happy with being able to flip the rack a round and re route my set up and lay it out the way I want it. This plug in is just what I've been waiting for.(I hope) Keep in touch and thanks..

Huge respect to you my friend 81 and still going that's great!! Ambient music is really enjoyable. One of my favorite ambient artists out there at the moment is Lorn check him out if you have time. back to your question, synth master isn't the best synth to learn synthesis with. its too complicated for beginners. try Sylenth1 be sure to read the manuel. Also i would recommend that you start learning other DAW's. Reason9 is a great workstation but try logic if you are on a MAC. Search the net for tutorials good luck!

If you want to understand synthesis I would recommend getting Syntorial, it is an interactive course with challenges that teaches you how to program sounds. It goes slowly and trains your ear.

It covers all the basic of a substractive synth and some, it translates well to the majority of synths.
