Your thoughts on Krotos Dehumanizer Pro extended?

Hi,

I'm thinking about buying a copy of Krotos Dehumanizer pro extended,

It's tempting because it's on sale and I do sound design for commercials & radio plays.
I don't make enough to pay full price, but the sale price is tempting. I plan on trying the demo very soon.

Has anyone else used this software?
What's your experience with it been like?
Are there any alternatives you recommend?

Honestly, whenever I look at their promo videos, I feel like you could achieve those results with existing pitch shifters, ring modulators, delays and other plug ins.
It also has a convolver, which is not unique in itself, but the thing that sets it apart is that they include field recordings of animals. If you need that, I guess it's valuable.
For something more unique, I would take a look at these two:

Here's another inexpensive gem of a sleeper plugin for processing vocals: Sonivox Vocalizer Pro. It's inexpensive too ($39).

I recommend that you demo it. I don't think that the videos do it justice.

I dont have the Pro version, just the cheapest one, but Im probably going to upgrade via the sale. It seems to have carved a solid niche for itself in the film and TV arenas, and the feature set is a bit wider than any given alternative, and more focussed on voice processing than most individual tools. Its certainly possible to build a similar toolchain, especially for electronic/robot voices, but there are only a couple of alternatives for more 'natural' stuff, eg animal/monster sounds (not many vector-crossfading convolvers out there), and they'd start to add up compared to this sale price. It can be a little glitchy, Ive found, but the batch process stuff would be particularly handy for anyone having to prep a lot of stuff for film/game work.

But since there is a demo version, I'd suggest you give it a heavy-duty spin, it may not suit, and that's the best way to tell for sure.

I appreciate somebody listing what it does. I'm surprised that vocoding wasn't mentioned though! With animals sounds as the carriers-- probably from Freesound. Is that the same as convolving?

Dehumaniser 2 does have a vocoder. The Pro Extended version, mentioned when this thread was young is no longer being sold.

If I remember rightly it was a standalone application, Dehumaniser 2 is a plugin.
