Just wondering about how you go about doing this? If you have a video stream of any given type how do you extract just the audio from it and turn it into a wav or something.

And also how you you "save" videos that are from streaming audio feeds (correct terminology?)?

Thanks :D

Ive loaded videos into Soundforge and saved the audio as .wav.

For streamed videos, try looking in your temp internet folder....

I've wondered about this as well. I have some concert DVDs that I would like to extract the audio from and burn to CD so I can listen to them in the car (for personal use only). I want it to be like a "real" CD where there are individual tracks for each song. I don't have a commercial audio editing package - is there a tool (freeware/inexpensive) out there for doing this? I'll admit that I haven't looked for a good tool for this before - this thread reminded me that I wanted to find out how it is done. I can think of a very time consuming way to do it - I'm hoping for a program that makes it very easy. BTW, I use Tracktion and I don't think it will work with video files. (EQ - hope you don't mind me jumping into your thread with my own question :))

then you better search for time-limited demo of app that can do this, e.g. adobe audition and finish what you're after within the demo period. or else do a search on hitsquad.com or similar for a freeware app if you prefer that ...

The easiest and by far most entertaining way to extract audio from a video is to watch the video while running a tool like AudioRecordWizard.
It will save any audio stream sent to your soundcard to a MP3 file.
You can also rip flash radio streams like this...
