Theres nothing supernatural about it, its just that having to constantly switch modes via keyboard or mouseclick is a solution that can really annoy the crap out of you and anyone incorporating it ought to be fined for cruel and unusual workflow.

I guess the TS and i agree that the most comfortable pianoroll workflow is still this:

Leftclick+Drag: Paint Note
DoubleLeftclick: Insert Quantized Note or Duplicate Last Selected
Leftclick Note: Highlight Note
DoubleLeftclick Note: Delete Note
Rightclick+Drag: Lasso
Lasso Notes: Highlight Notes
Leftclick+Drag Highlighted: Move Highlighted
Rightclick: Show Context Menu

With this system you can really speak of workflow because you can work fluidly.

With the switching system not so much since the work process gets so chopped up that its literally more work than flow.

personally, i have wanted context menus and customizable shortcuts for years.
in the meantime, i don't see how much difference in 'work' to hold down a modifier key and/ or perform clicks with the mouse. is it so much work?

I cant speak for others, but for me its not so much the 'amount of work' as it is the break in flow.

In other words its the back-and-forth that annoys me.

BTW, what DAW are you using?

In REAPER you can both things, i.e. customize menus and context menus and create any custom shortcuts you want.

(I have yet to see a DAW thats more customizable than REAPER. You have access to almost everything there is.)

For me it is a big different if I must have a hand on the computer keyboard for essential tasks. With mouse only control I can sit lazy in the chair or couch without having both hands on the desk. I hate shortcut driven software. Many DAWs shows how it should be. Also I love one window application like studio one, bitwig, ableton etc.

Next thing in FL which is very annoying is the mixer section. I have not found a view on which I can see all the insert FX on all channels. Every Time I must step to a specific channel to see this information an the left side of the mixer.

Sorry, but I have deinstalled FL.

i have used reaper, made some good stuff in it. it's one of those apps that you get out what you put in. samplitude is like this also.. and studio one i think.. so i do not exclusively use fl. when i first tried it ( FL), i hated it. i frequently suffered 'computer rage'.. but then i learned the shortcuts etc. and have only a few niggles now. i know the shortcuts etc. which is not to say it's far from perfect ( sorry, that is an unattainable ideal), if it was customizable it would be tops. i use fl when i want to sketch out songs and use all it's bespoke plugins. i was only have joking with the op about a wireless keyboard. myself, i use a wacom tablet and there's no going back to the keyboard for me now.. ( not entirely, but mostly: )
