Live performance: Changing arrangement live

Hi everybody,

I work on the following club project:

I've live-Musicians (bass, guitar, vibraphone) the beat incl. the arrangement (like Chorus...) I've programmed.

But!: I want to work with improvisation with the musicians. For example: The guitarplayer is playing a solo. I want to be able to make the beat 8 bars (sorry I don't know the word in english) longer until the chorus comes (if the guitarplayer wants to play longer and the people like it).

I was thinking about: I take my piece of music and make different versions of it, every version starts at a different point. So I could mix it with time code vinyl (I'm an old school guy:-) and make some parts longer. But problem is, that I need time (at least 2 bars) to start.

I've seen different midi (DAW?) live-controllers, where you can manipulate a lot of effects, but it seems that the "arrangement" (means: at which point the chorus comes...) always stays the same.

I also want to make the same pieces with different beats, so I can mix & change it, when I see the reaction of the audience...

Is there any music soft/Hardware possibility to solve this problem very flexible, instead of mixing it with timecode "vinyl".

but isn't ableton just a DAW, what's the difference to ProTools?

Isn't PT a DAW? Live session view allows the setting up of scenes, which can be verse, chorus, intro, etc ... each of which can be looped indefinitely, and in any order.

Another option would be to set loop points in the arrangement so the band can "stretch out" when needed.

thanks for the video. It seems that's a quite good possibility, I should test. I've already an mpk mini so perhaps I can use it for starting the individual tracks. perhaps any more vids that are showing the things I need? Cause there are so many, most of the things I don't need.

Check out the different versions of Live 9. Maybe a lite version would suffice. As for more videos, try 'Google'. It's become quite popular and can yield some useful results.
