It looks like this is a huge upgrade. Sonar is going hard for the film sound production market with this one

Yeah, good job! (Although Cubase/Nuendo has had these feaures for awhile). It looks like they might have a much better Freeze function than Cubase though...

And all that for $179 only. I will have to be lonely, stupid or blind if I don't take it.

Yeah, its very much as 'catch-up and consolidate' type of release, which is perfect for what Cakewalk needs to do, now that they've sorted their routing scheme, and console view.
If it sounds good it is good.

They always did,Sonars 3 step freeze never claimed memory like Cubase's version, now Sonars freeze is 1 step while still freeing memory.bduffy wrote:It looks like they might have a much better Freeze function than Cubase though...

Tracktion must die, Go one up on Cubase, Forget about Logic, Pro-Tools is losing power, and Audition can step off
That exactly what Cakewalk is saying right now. Sonar 4 looks beautiful.

Don't forget that Cubase is also going to be updated. Let's wait and see what they will put in. Sonar4 looks like a nice update but it is to early to judge it now before we have a demo version to test it out. I have Sonar3 and Cubase SL2 and from what I can see, most of things Sonar4 is implementig are already implemented in Cubase since Sx1 and especially Sx2.
The fact is: a Sonar user has to pay for a update to get tools and features that a Cubase user already has.
