These are rumours of course but if the part about Live 4's audio warp engine being implemented into SX3 is true then it would be a massive answer to Live 4. :shock:

I think the Steinberg Remix product *was* a cut down version of Live anyway so it may be true...we will see in about a week for sure!

It's possible...

There have been rumors of strategic alliances between Steinberg and other mfrs. most notably and obviously with Yamaha.

Seems to be a pattern here...

Steinberg/Yamaha
Cakewalk/Roland
Digidesign/MAudio (aka Avid)

Actually it seems to me it would make more sense for Ableton to buddy up with the Propellerheads...

If it is true about Live's audio warp feature in SX3 then it would be some feature. I would personally still prefer Sonar 4 if I had to choose between Cubase SX3 and S4 Producer.As I already have Live 3. :wink:

I actually use Live4 + Sonar3 tandem (soon to be Live4 + Sonar 4) and love it. looks like it will only get better!!
If it sounds good it is good.

The vst wrapper is still flaky in some circumstances.
Though I haven't found the adapter flaky in quite some time as far as compatibility with VST plug-ins, Sonar not including built in VST support means that VST effects that can sync to tempo will not work unless configured as a DXi (not a big deal) if at all (a very big deal, as plug-ins like the Kjaerhus Audio modulation effects still do not sync). Also we're missing midi output support for VST/VSTi plug-ins (which I was hoping against hope would be in this release). Anyway aside from this I'm quite impressed with this upgrade and will be kicking my Sonar 2.2XL up a few notches. Don't need the surround stuff (which appears to be one of the biggest things), but the group editing will certainly come in handy as well as the Pow-R dither and Sonar 3PE's bussing as well as the other new features. Can't see how some people don't think this is a big update though...I'm familiar enough with Sonar 3PE from using it on friend's systems to know this is quite the big update.

yeah! hopefully the next vst->dx adapter release will add that midi stuff so things like supatrigga will work!

you can't turn the Kjaerhus Audio stuff into DXis? why not?

Yeah I know :wink: But the thought of combining Live 4 and Sonar 4 :shock: I think we have probably arrived at a place now where there really is so much packaged with Sonar, Live, Tracktion...that any of them can get the job done.

I suppose if you pay more then the you get swamped with FX and other features..what an upgrade for Sonar! :o

Oh, the pan-laws, yes.. that only concerns those artist that "port" their project to other DAW-enviroments.

I was hoping for full vst-support, better rewire-handling, more flexible console that could be custom configured to software/hardware effects (studioware is nice, but it's still like a program-inside-a-program), more dithering options, improved timing, more audio-routing facilities etc. etc. I'll stick to 3PE untill Cakewalk presents me to something worth the money for the upgrade. I'm sure they will in a very short while 8)
Actually I would say there are more main features than the one you mention. Freeze, comping, video, etc. And Sonar DOES have full VST support IMO. Also there ARE more dithering options.

Sorry, I was a little late to the party here. Didn't mean to beat a dead horse 8)

Yeah....this is truly revoltuionary. Surround vocoders, surround ohmforce delay, surround multiband...surround-anything...mmmmm....me likey.
