I haven't seen a post about these two: Modnetic and Diffuse. Some time ago I got an offer to get Diffuse for free, so I did. It's a pretty cool diffusion type delay. I know, delay... yawn. I have many delays but Diffuse is probaly one of the best sounding diffusion delays I've used. Think: Blackhole or Shimmer. Blackhole can be deeper and darker and more evil sounding than Diffuse. Shimmer is less tamed. But I find Diffuse sounds better while still giving a pretty wide range of sounds.

I hadnt used Diffuse in a track and was working on a project where it wasnt being used. So it was there for another track in the future perhaps. I got an email for an offer on Surreal Machine's other product Modnetic. It's a tape/delay+mod+reverb effect. again... on paper its yawn. I just sold a bunch of reverbs and delays I wasn't using (and still have many more left, including some of the best native ones on the market). Yet, Modnetic offered something new and useful: it really sounds vintage. I used to use tape delays and stomp pedals in the 70s and 80s, that's how we made music. I was really surprised at how realistically vintage Modnetic sounds. For me it doesn't displace Outer Space, Echoboy, Imerial Delay, ES300, Satin, or my favorite tape delay IK's Tape Delay (very realistic).

So, I bought it. and this track evolved from demoing it....

All the effects are Diffuse and Modnetic on aux busses.

So they were called Dub Machines in the past? I wondered based on some of the other products on their site. The way I looked at it was Diffuse was free so 50 euro for Modnetic, and I'm paying basically 25 euro for each. Definitely worth it. Even for the regular price, I'd consider it although I have a lot of other similar ones. But if I didn't have Echoboy/ES300/Outer Space or Shimmer/Blackhole, Modnetic and Diffuse would a good combo for those kinds of effects. They really do sound nice!

Beautiful track!

I'm very happy I got Diffuse when it was free, with so many delay-based effects these days I probably would not have even demoed it- it turned out to be an excellent plugin and quickly became a favourite.

I'll try Modnetic again, it occupies the same slot as Spaceship Delay which is a problem, especially when both also do a few things the other doesn't... I want to avoid having two plugins for the same purpose if possible.

Diffuse is incredible. I've put it on so many sounds and gotten huge, warm and musical results. Highly recommended. The only reason I didn't purchase Modnetic as well is because I already have U-He Satin. Going heavy on that with Diffuse / Echoboy / Outer Space etc gives me great results. But I'm sure Modnetic is also excellent.

It seriously is, yes.

I just received an email from surreal machines offering an early adopters discount of 50% for Modnetic. I bought Magnetic & Diffuse for Live when they were first released. Nice one Surrealmachines ... I just bought it :tu:

I didn't buy anything from them, but I got the rebate offer too ;)

Just bought it and it sounds great. Fairly heavy on cpu with typically 10 percent on a preset on my i5 Mac.

The Max version is very CPU heavy too.

Also got the M4L versions when released, but as I don't really need to use them outside of Live, it's hard to justify buying the VST versions, even at a discount.

I decided there is enough difference between Modnetic & Magnetic to justify buying it at the discounted price. Was hoping it was a little lighter on the CPU also. I got the Diffuse vst when it was free.

I purchased Modnetic. Got Diffuse when it was free.

I'm seriously impressed. I'm a beginner, especially with FX plugins. Yet I can get really nice sound out of these. Improved some of my pads a lot.

Cool stuff.

So glad I popped in to this thread - the 50% discount email has been filtered away by Gmail! Got diffuse when it was free and love it - have played with the Modnetic demo and it was great and was looking to buy soon anyway so 50% off is a winner!

I'm using it with a VAST based live guitar rig and it sounds amazing. The Dub Machines package is getting a good amount of guitar love actually (big Tone report article amongst others).
