'The Net download chart'. A new way. An accurate and real reflection of what music the world is really listening to, as opposed to whatever corporate garbage the radio programmers are foisting upon the nation on a daily basis.
At LAST the music industry has cottoned on to all this world wide web malarkey.
Any song, from any era and any genre is viable for this new chart, as it is purely based on the total amount of weekly downloads.
So, classic 70s album tracks, can rub shoulders with hithero unreleased demo's, and even Elvis singing into a tin can at Sun! All very exciting.
Great innit?
So, what's the first ever number 1? ... Westlife.
DOH!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I assume you are referring to legal downloads, such as buymusic.com and Apple's iTunes - these would be very easy to keep track of.
I hope this doesn't referr to P2P or illegal DLs as then the numbers would be very hard to keep accurate...
Long live iTunes - I love that place...

I guess some crap boyband like Justin Timberlake used to be in...
There is a difference between most accessible sound that people tolerate listining to while seeing beautiful persons / video's, on one side, and music that I respect because it sounds good and gives me a good feeling, on the other side.
WHY are there hit lists?
They only feed the dumb public with crab, it's worse then spam!

Oxford English dictionary definition.
'Westlife' - A Group of Irish people, with rosy cheeks and little talent, purveying cheesy music for 10 year olds, featuring hauling fat arses off stools for the climatic key change'.
