Worst Song Ever?

Worst song ever should be big, serious and attack often. Freaks, jokes, forgotten minor acts and amateurs don't count. I'd pick Queen, Bohemian Rhapsody, or Pink Floyd, The Wall, or Beatles, Yesterday (especially a themed cover, like soft jazz take or 'classical' orchestration).

While you have all submitted some worthy examples of horrible music, I believe to be the worst ever it has to have been hugely popular to the point of being overexposed then followed by the sudden realization that the song truly sucks. It must reach the point where the mere title of the song brings revulsion. It must be mocked by each and every person who hears it. With that in mind, I give you this...
This space has been unintentionally left blank.

OK. OK. You want big?Zombie Queen wrote:Worst song ever should be big, serious and attack often. Freaks, jokes, forgotten minor acts and amateurs don't count. Donna Summer's version of "MacArthur Park".
Are you interested in some Peanuts? They were the tiny twins in the Mothra movies.
Their version of King Crimson's "Epitaph".

Just to make this a truly global, world music showcase... Here's some reeeaaallyyyy shitty Latin stuff. If you thought La Macarena was bad, you're in for a treat. Enjoy!

while i appreciate and fully endorse the repugnance towards commercial and wannabe music apparent in this discussion,
in many ways it would sort of be good if the entire internet had been frozen c. 2000 a.d. and new onliners had to review it before posting
you young people talk over your elders and don't appreciate what we've been through!
you have cooked up new terms for things like antimusic, avoiding any recognition of those who truly knew the essence of industrialism.
negativland's "U2" has *two* parts (there is a video on yt combining both, under the title "long distance listener dedication" or something, to avoid removal).
sure, some novel foreign finds are amusing, but the residents already recorded "third reich and roll" and *every f**ker in my generation knew about it* where the f**k are you? acting all like you got somethnig to bring to the table and you don't even know about the third reich.
threads here at kvr from 10 years ago contain all the "song poem" links you could want, eg. "those amazing helicopters". how many legion of rockstars videos have been deleted for copyright violation while you were unaware, because you thought old people were boring. it's kind of nice to see foot foot here and such, but
find out something.

Us old people ARE boring though.
Let's face it we really are terribly boring from the POV of younger people simply because we do not share enough data points. It's a gap that can never be fully crossed.
We're has-beens. Our DNA is fragmenting with every breath. And the Undiscovered Country is... well it isn't. It isn't anything. There is no hope.
There is no light at the end of this tunnel.
There is nothing. Ever again.
BWA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA HA SUCK ON IT WORLD!

For me, Alanis Morissette's "Ironic" is at the top of my list. I cringe every time I am forced to hear it. Musically, it's not terrible, it's just that there is nothing in the lyrics that is actually ironic. Other than the fact the the song is titled "Ironic" and the lyrics are not.

Maybe that's the "genius" of Alanis' lyrics. (If she wrote it; I don't know who did and can't be arsed right now).
Maybe she was showing that it's ironic that we don't know what we really mean when we try to communicate... anything.

If that was actually the intent, then maybe she is "genius". But probaby not.Ciberithm wrote:...Other than the fact the the song is titled "Ironic" and the lyrics are not.

Resurrecting this thread to add that the so-called Babaji is at the centre of a major controversy that's been grabbing all the headlines in India, and has been handed a 20 year prison sentence for the rape of two of his followers. A few cities were more or less completely shut down due to widespread violence caused by his followers, and some incredibly shady dealings of the cult have been surfacing ever since his arrest. He and some of his followers even had a plan to run over cops and try to escape, complete with him giving them the signal by lifting a red bagmaschinelf wrote:Btw ok maybe it's a stretch to call it the worst song ever. But this guy is now the largest selling artist EVER in India, which is pretty scary. He also obviously wields a lot of power and influence, with 50 million followers, so he is potentially also an extremely dangerous individual. He is also currently under investigation for the forcible castration of 400 of his followers![]()
This is potentially as dangerous or more than any of the doomsday cults, like aum shinrikyo or heaven's gate, except that in this case this guy has more ppl than a small country following him.

In terms of worse song ever, this must rank pretty highly.
A 'teen band' of the very early 2000s, who bizarrely did this line dancing tribute shite.
Many of you don't live in the UK so you will have been spared this until now...
