Is this the "Worst Bong Ever" thread?

Well, I don't remember the tune already. Yesterday, or Last Christmas, I wish I could forget.

I kept hearing this song in Peet's Coffee, where I basically lived for a couple of months, and I had no idea what it was, but it has this line 'over and over again, my friend' which is literally the most annoying thing in the world as far as I'm concerned. It seems DESIGNED to be as irritating as possible musically. I finally googled it after I realized the 'my friend' probably sets it apart from other idiotic songs that do it over and over and over again, and it's Eve of Destruction by Barry McGuire, which somehow I missed back in the day or somehow I was able to ignore that.

The other thing, similarly but worse as a song is some thing where a female singer sings a line that is Fa Sol Mi, over and over again in this supposed-to-be-so-damned-sympatico manner, so incredibly cloying and one time I stopped (I was actually in there composing all day so highly irritable) to see if there was anything else in the f**king song. THERE ISN'T. It's something you do at a cadential point, and this idiot apparently thought it was so amazing and lovely and she was so in love with herself she couldn't be arsed to move after that.
that to me is maybe the worst. No, there are too many things just in today's music I can't even f**king believe.

Yes, "my friend", somehow this phrase can summon a lot of anger. Beatles used to use it a lot...
Last year it hit me in the least expected venue, Warsaw Autumn festival. There was this modern avant-garde whatever piece by some new author, there were two pianos and samples being played back. The pianists seemed to hit every part of the instruments, except for the keys, there were some strange noised being streamlined though the speakers and then... "something is coming, my friend", being said loud and clear and many times as the part of sample stream. I had to work out hard not to lough out loud. "Something is coming, my friend", now I keep saying that when taking a dump.

that's f**ked up

in the naborhood 'my friend' or even the more endearing 'mijo' is used a lot to accentuate a point the other person won't necessarily agree with, so that's it in the song I suppose. I knew about the lyrics but I think I may never have heard it before. There were a few songs they would play frequently and leaked through my headphones I detested but that was numero uno.

Although I find this one particularly egregious, it can really apply to just about anything in this format. Look at the title. "Original song" has been added since I last looked, but it used to just have "(dubstep violin)" on the end, and that lays bare exactly what it is and what it aspires to be. There's no interesting synthesis of musics happening here. Just a lazy layering of two inane things happening at the same time. I can DJ better than this.

I haven't dug through the rest of the thread, but the original poster's video follows this template too. It's the artistic equivalent of a bread sandwich. Two things slapped together with no substance between. Not even a smear of butter.

Just out of interest, what is it that makes people want to hear really bad music?

For me, it's exploring the boundaries.

Yes, but do you look that good in tights?

Yes, some butter would be great.
