So now, read that in context, "as a reverb, who cares." Don't confuse yourself in an effort to make yourself feel better for buying weak products. I don't think that this is an "important" reverb and I'm not worried about "not getting it." My choice to talk shit about it doesn't reflect an inner desire to purchase it. That kind of interpretation is something that your mom probably tried on you to manipulate you into doing things her way, only neither of you were smart enough to realize that it's nonsense on its face.

Leaving the ridiculous retail price aside, are there examples of paid reverbs in the ballpark of $13 that perform better? Notwithstanding the fact that I feel that OrilRiver is a stronger reverb and it's free.

Oh absolutely, Orilriver is 100 times better than Oracle if one is looking for just a great sounding reverb! I use Orilriver all the time. Cloudseed is another free reverb that runs circles around the reverb on Oracle. As has already been mentioned in this thread: where Oracle shines is in the other bells and whistles. The reverb is good for some sounds but IMO the reverb is actually it's weakest feature. I'm still unsure why Soundspot decided to market it by focusing on the reverb. So yeah, if I'm working in a project and decide to pull up a strong reverb, I'm most likely going to go with Orilriver, Cloudseed 2016 Stereo Room, EOS, or a Valhalla reverb.

As for a reverb in the $13 range: I can't think of any, but yeah there are some free ones that do a beautiful job!

Well, that's true, but I do respect and appreciate those who are educated - in any field or specialty. I love to make music, but I'm not that knowledgeable on the inner workings of synths/plugins. Even as to the sound, my ears aren't that discerning, so when I say I must have crappy ears, I'm not being facetious - I do have average ears, so I defer to those who have better ears - and this forum does have experts, and that's why I enjoy learning here. I mean, I can't tell the difference between a solid state amp and tube amp when they're played at "room" volumes - but there are those who can hear the harmonics that apparently are being produced by the tubes.

Too, I'm not at all looking for another reverb. I've got too many synths and plugins to shake a stick at. I watched the video just do some window shopping, which musicians love to do. I enjoy this field so much and learn something new every day. If I do intend to buy another reverb plugin, I'll look at what's been recommended by those who are knowledgeable - which, of course, I know is simply my opinion of who I defer to, but by watching these threads, you get to know who to trust, or at least who has proven to be correct in my mind.

For disliking something so much that you never even purchased, you've spent a helluva lot of time in this thread.

It's obvious the discussion isn't so much about the plugin but the developer's practices surrounding it. Bad practices in this industry affect all of us, so regardless of purchase, everyone has a stake in this. Injecting personal digs like that into this discussion isn't necessary.

One thing's for sure they have a very capable modern GUI designer - this plugin almost has that Output vibe. Hopefully they develop the reverb sound and reconsider their full retail prices.

Both Waves H-Reverb and Abbey Road Plates have been selling in the 22$ territory and they both blow the Soundspot Oracle out of the water so badly that there's really no comparison.

In its current state, the reverb is worth little more than the $13 they initially asked for. The only reason I purchased it is because the developer had supposedly stated to multiple unsatisfied customers that they will work to improve the algorithm. The plugin has enough potential that I was swayed by that statement. Maybe I'm just a stone cold idiot. Who knows.

I reasoned the same way as you do. I frankly speaking spent way more than $13 on much more useless things in my life to date , so I will not lay sleepless in my bed at night if Oracle remain as it is for all eternity.
