Hi al, beeeeeeen a looooooooooooooong time since I been here. Anyone remember EnergyXT and DR008 and Mr. Ray? Thats how long its been.
Now I'm looking for a simple host to record some guitar and load some VSTs for midi. any ideas?

How about this? https://www.cantabilesoftware.com/free-vst-host I don't know how much you can do it, and, i don't know about the recording functions either, but, seems decent for your requirements.

Yeah, seems like a good option too. If you like it, you can buy it, for not much money, after 2 months of free usage. :)

Ditto. Most recent version of Traktion (8? ) is even renamed to Waveform and an older version 5 is made free. They should by now have fixed that annoying hanging first note bug that pestered v1.6 nfr, remember?

Oh, and DO compare it with Cockos Reaper, test out what workflow you like best.

+ 1 Tracktion 5

It was a full functional DAW with evrything and that has not changed now that its free :D

And in someways might be more stable and with less bugs then the actual waveform....

And it was develloped before the look and coolness of the website and a software included shop sometimes seem to be more important then the offered content.......
