Anyone have cool presets to share?
Disregarding the fact that compressor presets don't make any sense in the first place, MJUC has so few controls it surely benefits you more to learn to use them than slap a preset on your material, it won't work anyway.

MJUC is one of my best plugin purchases ever, it's yummy sound and simplicity compliments the cleanness and controls of Kotelnikov GE perfectly. What a great time to be a hobbyist musician, incredible tools that fit any budget.

Cheers,
I`d like to make all aware to have received Klanghelm`s first newsletter.
Very welcomed, a big thanks to Tony for working at it.

I can`t find a newsletter subscription box on homepage yet.

Wonder if it will provide some interesting competition for Kotelnikov GE? Hmmmm ...

I hope the GUI will be nicer and that it will be more user friendly options wise...rare are those who need 157 knobs just to do a compression. I rather switch it with something ala 1176, easier to dial in but with loads of attitude.

What is nicer and more user-friendly for you may not suit other users. Can you propose some specific suggested changes?

For example, MJUC...Tony did wonders with it, easy to use and dial in a sound.

No way. The whole point of DC8C is to offer highly customizable options so you can pretty much make it do almost any type of compression you can think of. If you bought it not knowing this, you bought the wrong compressor. If you want "just" a 1176 there are already plenty of other options out there that only do 1176 type compression with much fewer knobs and options.

It does have an easy mode.

I'm in the same boat. I love compression, and I love Klanghelm plugins, but DC8C just doesn't click with me. It can get very good results but takes enough effort that I'll always end up reaching for something else instead. I've never used Presswerk, but from what I've seen, they've found a nice solution. A variety of simple modes with paired down GUI's to help quickly facilitate the task at hand with the option to go "Advanced" at any time. If Tony were looking at ways to increase the appeal of DC8C v3 while retaining all the features, having a few different UI's with different controls exposed (and behind the scene presets for others) suited to specific tasks might be just the way to go.

I'm also currently testing a new compressor from another company, and this one sounds good at just about every setting and on every source I've thrown at it so far. They went for an interesting approach where the faster end of the attack/release times were designed to sound like an FET compressor, with medium times getting into VCA territory, and longer times into the Mu world. It's highly effective, and sounds great, while offering a ton of tonal flexibility without overwhelming users with tons of controls and options.

Anyway, I total dig Tony's work. Just wanted to chime in that my biggest wishlist item for DC8C v3 would be figuring out how to streamline the workflow so I could get better results, faster. If that's just outside of the intended scope, I respect that too.

What new compressor from another company are you talking about? :)

Also, looking forward to DC8C3! I use DC8C v2 all the time still.. and I disagree that it's difficult to use. I can tweak it just fine.

What on earth???

This was one of the major new features of DC8C2 a few years ago - I must have ended up in a parallel universe that's severely lagging, I guess...
