I don't hate it but it's a lot worse than a serial number. I have had it fail to recognize licenses on a regular basis requiring that I stop work and troubleshoot for as long as it takes. This issue is a constant that has occurred with iLok 1 and 2 over many years and software update so it seems a systemic issue. So number one, reliability, number 2 support is not as good as I personally am used to (i.e. I tend to stick with companies that treat their customers with respect.

Love iLok.

Online C/R is by far the worst experience I've ever had, especially if their servers are crap.

Shit, why do you need a thread to vent your anger about a licencer for Christ sakes? Ive read these replys and no one's yet has come up with a sensible reason why it sucks. Compared to waves central its solid as f*uck but i never see anyone complaining bout waves.

They only design this shit to work on computers that are well configured. If you usb hubs arent working then thats a usb driver issue or something.

Your comprehension skills are sorely lacking.

Try re-reading the OP a few times, see if that helps. if you're still stuck, let me know and I will explain it to you step by step.

Yeah ilok1 was pretty rubbish but 2 has been solid. You rarely hear complaints anymore.

the obvious absence of a "iLove iLok for iReasons" thread (no, I did not use the forum search function) makes me derailing this one to express my sympathy with that dongle. well, I prefer dongles in general over any protection scheme that is more advanced than a username/serial combination without online checking, but iLok is my favourite when it comes to license handling. I'm talking about the hardware only. software emulated dongles or vaults I dislike as much as any other c/p stuff. with an USB device server you don't even have to replug the hardware when sharing it in your LAN, connect it to a virtual machine without pass through, and all that.

for me it just works. period. I even prefer iLok over eLicenser (which doesn't receive even remotely as much hate as iLok) since you have an aggregated view of your licenses that the dongle manufacturer knows of. steinberg for instance only cares for their licenses on the dongle. don't know what happens to 3rd party licenses in case the dongle breaks and steinberg replaces it. with iLok I'm quite sure about that.
ok. transfer fees. yes, that's some drawback.

hate it if you want, moan about it. that's ok with me.

I agree. It's great. I love it too. :tu:

I haven't been logged in to PACE manager for a couple of months, if doing that and the updates will not fix the problem, I will try to move the licence back to the iLOK stick via another computer.
Yes, I needed to upgrade the PACE manager to latest version, that fixed the problem, now got PolyKBIII running again with the license on the computer.

I don't know why this still exist, there is not liberty, we cannot feel ourselves as the owner of some products, if something weird happen with your pc you are in a very bad situation because you're dependent of a company, with this sort of system we are not the owners anymore, there is not such thing in many cases where you might recover your keys or if that is the case you have to claim for mercy to Ilok.
do you think that this is ok and we just have to move on like that... no I don't think so, I mean all the companies with this system should leave it for ever, when my liberty and my product is in hands of a company, is not my product anymore. imagine you have your vehicle and you wanna the keys... no you don't have keys, you have a permission, not your product, you're not the owner.

I really support the effort of many companies and their products, but certain procedures should change in the way we might have the liberty and awsow peace to not be concerned about lose our products we paid for, knowing I can use it when I want, your independence is a high value never forget that. greetings to all, hope this message be heard...

I have a great present without Ilok/PACE already...
