Anyone have experience building controller panels in Cubase?

I'm intrigued by this. I have not seen this until tonight. (hardware editors you build)
- How deeply and complex can it be?
- Do other Hosts have similar schemes?
- Yes, I know about Midi Quest.

It's a separate manual for this alone - Midi devices.
One part saying:
"If you want to create a complex panel, it is useful to set up
panels and parameters at channel (subnode) levels and
then combine them in one large panel, instead of simply
putting all parameters in one panel."
Combining panels
"It is now possible to drag a subnode’s panel from the
Views area into the panel of a parent node, thus assembling
a complex panel by referencing the subpanels."

Rather extensive.
But have not dived into this.

Thanks for the pix and info Ifm.
I caught that .pdf doc online late last night. I wasn't at my best mentally to read it quickly and understand it.
I'm starting to demo(setup) MidiQuest right now, but I don't think they support HW effects.
(don't laugh) I'm still using Nuendo v.2. I read 'Panels' started with Cubase SX3 so I never knew about them.haha
I see it's a matter of writing out the SysEx data for each parameter, to put it simply. I understand the theory behind SysEx but never worked with it directly. I can only feel fear thinking about writing the library for something big like my Yamaha CS6R module...but could be worth writing them for my HW effects processors.
I would like to know what the difficulty range is for this. Maybe there are other applications that do this?

The MIDI Device editor is broken currently. You can't import/export the panel. I am hopeful that this is being corrected. But if you are C9 you should avoid it. I have created custom panels for Moogfoogers and Strymon pedals amongst other things. It is a bit tedious. But, using the panel instead of CC is worth it.
If you have to ask, you can't afford the answer

Thanks. I'll keep with MidiQuest for the moment, trying to understand it. Just getting an 'instrument' file installed is a mystery so far. My DAW is off line so they had me install an ftp client (on another on-line PC) to dload the ones I want. Trying those tonight and will see what happens.
I have all my Device Manager library files working OK, I like that feature. But editing patches can only be done with manufacturers editor programs, and that's just doing 'sound design'. If MidiQuest isn't great, I'll have to be satisfied with the 'generic device' and CC control for filter sweeps and stuff like that when playing song with automation.
Concerning the midi routing in SX3 in the other thread...maybe I'm thinking of the 3rd party MFX support? I know they killed DX support....no matter then.
Thanks
