AB-VSTi is pretty whacked out, too, but this thing is a corker..

Just tried using the digital fishphones de-normalizer plug on it hoping it was denormal issues, but no dice

C'mon..fix it man!! :x

What a crual debut..

You guys notice the way that slider on the bottom left controls a set 'spotlights' at the top of the GUI? Activating those little boxes really makes crazy shit happen..

I think this guy should submit this .dll file to the Native Instrument Reaktor R & D team..sheesh, it's f**king crazy..

FWIW, it doesn't crash Logic 5.5.1 at all.
Also, fortunately Logic offers it's "control" view, which makes editing quite a bit easier.

I must agree that this thing is sounding absolutely great, in case you're after some really strange soundscapes.

Still don't have much of an idea what most parameters are doing, but fooling around with them is fun allready.

The bad thing is that almost everything is moving and evolving endlessly, so sampling this won't be an easy game.
And using it in realtime... hm... well, maybe on some 8GHz CPU.

Having failed to get it to work in Sonar, I thought I'd try the Cubasis VST "Lite" version that was shipped with GPO. I *can* load SOPHIA and play the presets, which is good fun, but I don't seem to be able to change any of the parameters, either with the GUI, nor by sending the indicated MIDI control messages. But then again, I've never used Cubasis before, and there may be some little trick to unlocking parameters or something.

working in minihost ...
pretty reaktor like ...
40% + cpu per note , or so ...

Great sound, Interesting spacey machine like atmospheres can be created but the cpu usage is too high. I can only export the sounds to wav to solve this problem. Nice work so far.

Just a quick followup. I recently downloaded the demo of the DirectiXer VST->DXi adapter (v2.5), and using that, I can open and use Sophia "normally" in Sonar 3.1.1. The preset bank selection via the Sonar GUI even works correctly.

This thing is a beauty to behold and it really churns out some evil sounds

CPU hit for me with Orion Pro is circa 25% (3.02ghz)
so it will be usable, as long as I partner it with Synth 1 and nothing else

Very nice work

I really love this thing. On my machine I get 35%-65% cpu usage. I'll give it a bounce if it causes things to choke.

hey! .. this is a really good instrument!, itsounds so cool! 8)

just need optimization (a bit resources-hungry) but .. what a great machine!

t h n k s for share!! keep it up!

Tried the latest version on my AMD athlon64...performance was not an issue (around 15% CPU playing a couple of notes)...it sounds great!

There were some strange things with the presets tho' ...can't tell you why :( (exeption errors)

Downloaded this and gave it a bit of a working over. My comments:

Plenty of interesting sounds in this, very much like something you'd use (as was mentioned by a previous poster) in a soundtrack, probably for an Event Horizon or Aliens sequel. There are actually a fair number of places in my music this could be used, for adding that "just below the level of consciousness" creep-out audio effect. It'd also be killer for industrial or dark ambient soundscapes.

But my heavens the CPU useage! :-o :o On my P4 2.53Ghz, 4-5 notes and you're nearing redline in Tracktion. This wins the award for CPU hog, not even z3ta on my computer does as much damage. I might say in it's defense, you'd not *want* too many notes at once.. and there's always bouncing to audio. I could live with the CPU hit.. but..

The GUI sucks rocks! I can't tell wtf is going on, I end up hitting buttons and things at random and hoping I find a "musically useful" result. I want to play music damn it, not wank about on the UI! :help:

I'm keeping it, because the presets can be made use of, but I'm not likely to use it as heavily as I might otherwise due to the GUI being worse than useless.

Just my viewpoint, your mileage may vary.

I average 50-70% on my 1gHz Athlon - so I have to record it by itself. But what sounds! I have to score and sound design a film this winter, and Sophia will be all over it, for sure.
