The purpose of a remix IMO is to make the original track better in one way or the other.

In the case of Meat Beat Manifesto "Mindstream", the original is already a really good track.

But the Hartnoll Bros bring it to the next level and then some! The remix is so good that they included it as one of the highlights of Orbital 2 as "Remind".

But I prefer the remix over that album version, the vocal kicking in at 4:55 sits so perfectly in their mix it is just crazy

Well, technically Susumu Yokota's entire album 'Symbol' is an astonishing remix of classical works, which I highly recommend:

However, for the neatness of providing a remix tune which I thought was pretty decent from my wilder days, here's a goodun:

And I actually quite like Moby's version of New Dawn Fades

It's not really my favourite remix but it's the biggest difference in effectiveness between original track and remix that I've got sitting in iTunes. The original is a pretty ordinary track by Robert Miles with Nina Miranda on vocals that winds up through the magic of late-90s production an utter mess. For an EP of remixes, while they were going through their 60s psychedelia phase, FSOL completely transformed how the song works.

I'm predictable, and old. The 2017 remix of Sgt. Pepper.

Honourable mention goes to the 1999 remix of the Yellow Submarine soundtrack.
