I'm looking for a pattern or linear sequencer that has these features: - Has library of 'ideas' or 'phrases' or 'groups of notes'
- Can create ideas as derivatives of other ideas, for example idea 2 could be the same as idea 1 except the 5th note is one note higher.
- The 'link' between idea 1 and idea 2 is dynamic, meaning if the 5th note in idea 1 is changed, the 5th note in idea changes automatically so that it is still one note higher.
- You can place the instances of each idea wherever you want on the sequencer, and they remain dynamically linked to each other.
I found a program that perfectly matches the bill called 'frameworks,' unfortunately I haven't been able to get my hands on it. You can read about it here: http://www.dmu.ac.uk/documents/technolo ... freman.pdf (http://www.dmu.ac.uk/documents/technology-documents/research/mtirc/nowalls/mww-polfreman.pdf)
After doing a bunch of searching I'm fairly convinced no such thing exists already (besides frameworks,) so the next question is 'where's the best place to start?' I've looked at open source midi sequencers, I've looked at building my own using PD or JUCE or python, what do you think??? Is there a creative way to use logic scripting or ableton or similar to achieve what I want???
Thanks!
