There are plenty of other choices out there....
When the sales drop off,the manufacturers who use that poxy system will get the message loud and clear...
I don't like iLok/Pace,so I no longer use any software that requires it...
It's that simple
I'll add challenge response to that also i avoid these when i can.
A lot of companies are not even listing their copy protection which annoys me hey dev's can you please list your copy protection plan so i can avoid your rent ware.

Lucky you. AIR didn't inform that their plugins are iLok-infected and I always check many times before I buys something. Now AKAI also added iLok to newest version of VIP, out of nowhere. Shady practices against customers.

Which is nonsense anyway as ilok is the only dongle protected software, which has been cracked lately...DJ Warmonger wrote: Now AKAI also added iLok to newest version of VIP, out of nowhere. Shady practices against customers.
So as a developer, if I want to add dongle protection, ilok would be my last choice...silly people

Not all iLok products have been cracked (EastWest, UVI).

I had to put aside my iLok hate to buy Hollywood Strings Gold and Echoboy Jnr when they were on sale. I've never had a problem with it. The only thing that bugs me is it requires a reboot after updating. That said, I still avoid products that require iLok, as I don't like it and I don't want my core plugins that I use frequently to be reliant on it.

if you don't like it, don't use the software that use it.
Anyway, there's a thread made specifically for this purpose:

I thought it was the older (oldest?) models that'd got cracked ?
I used to purposefully avoid iLok, but was coaxed into it with UVI stuff - Since then I've gone fully hardware iLok and really can see the benefits of it when you have a lot of plugins. Whereas with my other stuff, I'm not gonna have to dig up serials, have countless online activations, challenge/response stuff ... Just install the software, whack in the iLok - Done !

Never had problems here, and I've used ILok for years. If you don't like it, just buy products that don't use it. But then you'd miss out on some of the best software there is.

Ironically, the only ilok/pace plugins I have are freebies. I'm not going to spend money on something that can go poof and be gone through no fault of my own.

All the people who support this System... I have to ask with all the due respect if they where paid or something? how you would prefer give your keys and power in hands of a company instead to get it with you and preserve it, how you would prefer use certain device you paid for only with permission and dependency of a company, instead of just go, activate your software without the need to rely and depend entirely of a company?...

I hope nobody get my wrong, I really have supported the software companies and all the effort they do creating new content.
but I simply believe this sort of thing should change for ever, should be removed for ever, I cannot see any product requiring this System the same way as before, just for that, which kinda makes me sad since I really like the contents they have...

I don't know if boycott is the solution, at the same time I will no spend my money in any Ilok thing anymore...
but I believe we should raise our voice and make clear that we don't going to accept anything depending on Ilok never again.
