I'm turning 60 in November. I've been probably making music long before you were even born.sfxsound3 wrote:wagtunes wrote:I don't own Sylenth1 because I think it sounds like crap.![]()

Did you hear the entries in the KVR OSC for HIVE? There are some great sounding presets in many of those tunes.wagtunes wrote:Well, then it's my ears or my taste or both. All I know is I like the sound of every other U-he synth, which I all own, better than Hive's. That said, FX in Hive are pretty great. And it definitely doesn't sound lifeless, and Howie's presets totally prove that

OK but you didn't have to buy it. You could have just tried the demo.wagtunes wrote: I bought the synth. So I have EVERY right to critique it.
Here is what I've learned from more than my share of OSCs. Any synth can be made to sound amazing by some of these guys. The post processing, FX, EQ, Compression, automation, and on and on, is what makes those songs sound so great. It's why I've stopped doing the OSCs. I can't compete with these amazingly talented people. But make no mistake about it. It's not JUST the synth. That has been proven time and time again with synths that, dry, sound pretty bad. But if you're a wiz with a set of mixing tools, FX and automation, you can make anything sound amazing. Okay, we're not talking about that. We're talking about a self contained synth with no outside FX, EQ, Compression or anything.Examigan wrote:Did you hear the entries in the KVR OSC for HIVE? I bought it for business reasons. Not for personal use.Examigan wrote:OK but you didn't have to buy it. You could have just tried the demo.wagtunes wrote: I bought the synth. So I have EVERY right to critique it.
forgive me wags but if one pops into every thread about a product with their "critiques" it can appear to be more than just critiques. It's surely a different story when the thread title is asking for critiques but in this case that is NOT what the OP is asking for.wagtunes wrote:Know what I love about this place? You cannot, and I mean CAN NOT, say anything bad about a synth. Especially one that's been made by a developer who spends quite a bit of time here. You will be raked over the coals and fed to the lions. Doesn't matter if you've purchased all their synths. Doesn't matter if you've spent more money with that company than 90% of the people here. You simply CAN'T say a bad thing. Got a negative opinion? Better keep it to yourself unless you want the wrath of the KVR gods coming down on your head.
I bought the synth. So I have EVERY right to critique it.
If you don't like it, too bad.
How do you like THEM apples?
Sorry Hink, but if you read the OP, he clearly says he didn't like the sound of Hive and some people were getting on him for it. I was just adding that I too didn't like the sound to show that not everybody likes the sound of every synth out there as this is all subjective anyway. But some people get very defensive if you criticize anything around here. I should know better.Hink wrote:forgive me wags but if one pops into every thread about a product with their "critiques" it can appear to be more than just critiques. So I ask everyone to stay on topic, we dont need pages and pages of whether Hive is good or not. I'm pretty sure we already have that

No, you guys made it about me. All I did was give my opinion on a synth and agreeing with the OP.Russell Grand wrote:Yet another thread wag has to make about him...
