You know, I don't mind if this topic gets dragged on forever. Doesn't matter if someone dislikes Hive in-between. But it still suggests that alternatives are kinda more sparse than one would've thought.

Hink, you've been real good to me. I appreciate all the help you've given me. You tell me now. If you want me to refrain from ever saying anything negative about any piece of software in this forum ever again, consider it done. I don't need the grief that I get whenever I open my mouth and what comes out of it isn't roses and sunshine and what everybody in this place wants to hear.

So say the word and I swear, you and everyone else have heard the last negative word from me about anything in this forum. And if I break that word, you can ban me for life.

Don't be dramatic dude.
Come on, that's like telling a monkey not to throw it's own feces. :hihi:

Alternatives to Hive are definitely sparse. In my humble opinion, Hive is in its own class and beats out all the synths that have been mentioned in this thread thus far.

The OP is mind boggling.

If not liking the sound of HIVE, why does s/he want an alternative to HIVE ?

Obvioulsy the sound of a VSTi instrument is the most important thing. And if not liking the sound of a VSTi, why look for alternatives to that VSTi, when not liking the sound of that VSTi in the first place :?

The title of this thread is completey misleading, it should read "I need a simple to use subtractive synth with solid sound" instead.

Wags runs towards drama like a moth to the flame. Then when he feels burned, declares himself the victim and blames the flame. Of course there is no actual problem... it is just what happens between moths and flame.

Because Hive has one of the fastest, easiest to use GUI's ever. The speed and ease of experimentation is addictive.

He wants a synth with a similar workflow to hive. Its not misleading at all.

And most likely a similar architecture sound wise. In other words, Hive can do supersaw, he wants something that does supersaw but sounds better. That's why I suggested Spire, Rapid and Dune 2.

I understand perfectly what the OP wants.

PPL have offered him the current alternatives.

Dune 2 and SPIRE seems like good alternatives for a solid sounding synth as the OP wants.

I am not familar with Rapid, so dunno about that.

Well he hasn't been back to the thread since the 14th. Maybe when he returns he'll make a decision.

Minimal tabbing, this is what he wanted as well. Retrologue is another player here. The unison is a bit of restricted in terms of panning though.

Rapid's a typical EDM synth. It sounds great for that stuff. Nice supersaw and plucked sounds. It's sample based. The GUI is ugly as sine but other than that, great sound if that's what you want.

Workflow isn't bad either. I think it's a little pricey but that's just my opinion.

Maybe the OP just made up his/her mind and got the alternative wanted and is now making music, and not bothered with continuing the discussion ?

That's always a possibility too, in which case we're just wasting our time beating this subject to death.
